Meguiar's Final Detail - Any Remaining Stock?

Rockpick

Is Simple Green Simple?
Yes, I know it's discon'd and has been for a while...

We all find a product that we really like and stick to it... unfortunately for me, FD (D-5101 or D-5105) is this product.

Does anyone have an inside track to finding some of this stuff on the shelf some where? I hate to just give up without a fight.

I've done some experimenting with others and keep coming back.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Thanks folks!

I had no idea this was going to be discontinued.. We are all waiting for stock to be replenished here in the U.K..

Are you sure about this? :nixweiss

Are we talking about the same stuff. It's pink right? Have they replaced it with anything else? My supplier tells us they have 100 x 5 litre bottles on order expected mid october..

Last Touch is the current pink stuff. It's possible that Final Detail is still available abroad the way #16 was due to less stringent VOC regs.

I've got a gallon left of that sweet pink stuff :nana:

I've seen it on eBay along with Meguiar's Engine Kote

To answer the question Final Detail, Final Inspection, or Last Touch: Final Detail was discontinued, Final Inspection ( #34 ) is still around, and Last Touch is the latest in the pro detailer line.

Man...I've been trying for a long-time to find some remnant Final Detail and so far have come up with nada. I've hit body-shops throughout the Dallas-area since those were suppose to be the last holders of FD. Good luck in your search!

No Final Detail, never had a chance to try it as well, but Last Touch is ok, the scent will get to you after awhile. #34 is very nice though.

Thanks guys. I'm very interested in buying some if anyone has some old stock in their stash that they'd like to divest.

Does anyone know who was making this product for Meg's? I seem to recall that it was some chemical company on the east coast maybe? I could kick myself for missing the 5-gallon tote that floated across ebay earlier this year.

Uh-oh! Are you suggesting Meg's doesn't make their own products??

I have just about a gallon of final Detail in my detailing cabinet, don't really want to sell it but would be willing to trade up to 16 oz of it.

It's not unreasonable that they don't make all their products, but without any proof either way it's really a moot point and shouldn't really be an issue either way.

Thanks MCA... Raven, inbound PM!

Hey ya Rockpick, maxtorque02 (white Navigator) from F150online forum). Final Detail was a great product and I used it quite a bit. Haven't tried the new Final Touch yet, but instead went to Clearkotes Quickshine. It's an awesome product and feel it's better than Final Detail. Leaves the car with a great just waxed look and super slick. You might want to give it a try.

Hey max... Thanks for the tip on CK's Quickshine. I had done some reading about that product on here a few moons ago and it sounds like many like it. I may have to give it a go...

I really need to burn through some of my other 'spray' products first -- well, that is unless I find a couple 5-gallon totes of FD! HAHA!

The search continues... I think I'm a lost dog in the woods though. I've simply waited too long.

True... plus, it's very well known that the OLD Detailer line wasn't made in house.

I still wish I knew who made it for them though -- maybe they sell a Final Detail product with a different label. *sighs*

I think the reason it was discontinued was the VOC regs they put on many products. Meguiars probably could have just reformulated and kept the name Final Detail but for some reason chose to go with a new name. I've heard some good reviews about Final Touch, but once I started using Quickshine, I didn't feel the need to look any further. Good luck with your search, but don't hesitate to give some of these others a try.
