Meguiars FI or water better for clay?

Last time I clayed my truck, I was using Meguiars Overspray clay with FI for the lube. I was suprised as to how much FI you really need to make this clay work properly. Seemed like no matter how little FI I used, it was still too much and the clay would work great in some spots and mediocre in others. I was beginning to think that FI is maybe alittle on the slippery slide for clay to work properly. I would barely squeeze the trigger on the FI bottle and like I said, it seemed it was still too much for the clay to work properly. I think I will try distilled water next time,,,,,98

The problem is not with the lube but with the clay. FI is a great clay lube, if used a bit heavier than you would when QDing you'll be lubed up and ready to remove bonded contaminants. Megs clay, historically anyway, has not been the easiest for the home user. It's body shop clay for a reason, I have a bar laying around in my garage and guess what I use it for, overspray. It's great for getting stray primer off of glass and grinder dust off of anything. It is not good for being nice and easy to use on paint, get either the clay magic bar or the mothers kit, you'll be much happier.
