Meguiar's DA Microfiber Correction System Question

Over weekend bought the wife a Lexus GX 460, she of course picks black, why not, she only drives it, knows I will keep it looking good. At delivery it is as expected, swirl city, she picked the one on the showroom floor, had Michelins vs Bridgestone, like that choice but that means dealer has touched the vehicle, arg, my OCD is flaring already. Pretty much what we have seen here many times, nothing too bad, just lots of light swirls, water spots, etc. Washed, clayed and decided to use both steps in the Meguiar's DA Microfiber Correction System. Did test panel and got lots of hazing, did not over use D300, in fact only put 4-5 pea size drops to start, I know to clean pad, etc. Just could not get it to finish down well at all. D301 finishing wax helped but still not what I had hoped for. Got very good results on my silver Targa with just finishing wax, no swirls, so I did not use D300. Is Lexus paint very soft? I don't think I am doing anything wrong, but I have been wrong once or twice in my life, zero times since married, lol. Anyway switched to white pad and Menzerna Super Finish followed by Swissvax Concorso and got much better final result. Any thoughts?

I just did a Lexus with the MF pads, but used M105 and It came out LSP ready....Thais seems to be my new go to correction combo lately.

Ive had excellent results on Toyota and Lexus black with d300/microfiber cutting disc followed by m205 on a black lake country foam pad. That's my go to combo these days. If I need more punch cutting, then I sub in 105 on the mf pad. If the 205 won't finish down, I've got some menzerna 106fa or optimum finish, but I've had excellent results with 205 and foam to finish.

I still don't know an awful lot about it, but the nice thing about this system is that the pads are super easy to clean up and it eliminates the need to traditionally have to buy sometimes multiple (foam) pads for every polish and compound one may use as you can't use the same pad for multiple products, lest one risk contamination and messed up results.

I never came across if folks are doing an IPA wipe down between passes when using this system and to what degree-if any- do the included polishes potentially fill

Have folks used non Meguiar polishes with these pads? If that's possible one could simply just buy the backing plate and MF pads but I don't think that approach will work? :nixweiss

I still do an IPA wipedown...not sure if it is necessary, but a force of habit. When using the system as designed, I found very little filling effects. I found that the Compound kicks butt on removing scratches from headlights/taillights as well as kicks butt on polishing chrome finishes to a mirror like shine.

Of course, there is still a however... I have used the pads with OC Hypercompound spray and did not see super excellent results. After "playing" around a little, I switched it up to the M105 and found the cut to be amazing and the finish to be LSP ready (on most finishes). The downfall to the M105 as mentioned is that it dusts like crazy; but I would rather have a quicker cut, LSP ready (again, on most finishes) and dusting (since I re-wash after polishing anyway), than have to spend more hours compounding.

The nice thing, also as mentioned, is that these pads seem to last quite a while and are a breeze to clean up. I originally had an issue with the backings of the pads coming off, but after reccomendations here to switch to the Megs backing plate, I have had no issues with the backings of the pads coming off and notice that the pads run cooler with the Megs backing plate.

Needless to say, my new go to combo is the Megs MF Pads with M105.

On this Lexus RX450h D300 did leave some light marring, but by adjusting my technique was able to get it a little better and it was easily removed with 106fa. I was actually getting better results with M105 on this paint though...

Some paints simply won't finish down 100% with MF and D300/D301. For those paints, simply finish with foam and a dedicated finishing polish like M205, 106fa, and PO85RD.

Thanks, as a tired 50+ non-professional detailer trying to tackle a big SUV in 1-day, I wanted to minimize number of steps. One polish, one LSP and thought the DA microfiber would be an easy 1-2, oh well wife's happy, I am exhausted. Know I can get great results with 2 step and LSP just do not have the time or energy for that much work on that behemoth, now if it was my boy....

no number steps is too many, lol.
