Meguiar's D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream in Action on an M3

interesting thread all around, I'm with Jimmy on this, waiting on pay day for a fat order for ADS! :) maybe even a case of MF towels! :)
 
i'm not sure it's the product but might be your weapon of choice and your technique.



I have heard a ton of good things about D151 and have been wanting to order some.

which pad did u used? i apply it in my car about 1 mont ago, with orange, white and black LC pads, and works great but i expected a little bit better results...

I'm confused here. You did 3 passes with a "1 step" polish? If so you might as well of did M105+M205+UFSE/85RD?



I used D151 and wasn't too impressed. I'd like to try the Optimum 1-step polish next.

yes, i guess it wasnt the better idea, :nixweiss i thought ii would eliminate more swirls. but the finish its ok. and still look good today, but with some swirls.
 
At the Toyota dealership I work for, 151 is the product of choice for used cars . On new cars they use spray wax and if needed 151 by hand. When our detailer uses 151 with a rotary there is no halograms at all.

Is he using a wool pad? As I understand it the product is designed to be used with wool pads.



The reason I ask is because when I tried it with foam I got practically zero correction and when I used it with wool I didn't like the way it finished out. I plan on trying it again since I now have some black lambs wool tufbuff pads.

It was designed for body shop use so I would be compatible with wool and foam. I personally think D151 is a beast for a one step. I have used it many times and have gotten plenty of correction on just a foam polishing pad.

He uses a foam pad, and on bad cars he uses a wool pad followed with a foam pad.

I had pretty good correction with D151 on a white pad on this highlander
 
Its actually a great one step product in my experience. I think every detailer should have it in their arsenal for the "cheaper" less detail oriented clientele. Its for my customers who want to save their cars from being so dull yet not pay for an all out correction job.
 
You are correct, the wax that is left behind is actually pretty decent too. Still doesnt compare to a stand alone LSP but for a one step deal its actually very good.
