Meguiar's Cleaner Wax...anyone?

Any Meguiar's CW user here? It seems that it's quite a strong cleaner. Wonder how long can the wax last...

i used it a little bit a while back. It did a fairly decent job for what it was. I think it's a little bit better to use a real cleaner like PPCL and then number 26, but if your looking to save time it's worth it. Since then i've found a lot of much better products, like zaino and klasse, doubt i'll go back to the old wax system. No reason to go back to something that doesn't look as good (imo) and last nearly as long...

The Meguiar's Cleaner Wax in the burgundy bottle?

I have a 32 oz. bottle of that stuff (found it at costco a few years back for <$5.)

It cleaned well made the surface smoother and as for protection, I'll give it 3-8 weeks. 3 weeks for a daily driver outside 24/7 and 8 weeks for a garaged car used on weekends.

I've used it by hand in the past. Once I get my bottle back (at godmother's house), I'll use it on a beater with the PC.

Meguiar's also makes a cleaner wax in the mirror glaze line #6, never tried that one yet, but I think Intel486 did on a white accent with a rotary, results looked stunning.

Before I became educated about the virtues of multi-step detailing processes (about 15+ years ago), I regularly used the burgundy bottles of Cleaner/Wax. The product was very simple to use, and produced decent results.

I still recommend the Cleaner/Wax to friends and acquaintances who believe it's excessive to spend more than one hour of time on a wash and wax project.

For cars garaged overnight, the wax could last a couple months. Otherwise, monthly applications would be wise.

Jaspon and awd330 said it all. Not a bad one-step product, but better products are available. I am presently comparing it to Nu-Finish on my father-in-law's beater. I'll let you know.

I used Meguiars CW for years before I found this forum and started using products like PPCL, Meguiars #9, 3M SMR etc. It does the job for the money.

I've used Meguiars CW paste on my bike for the cleaner in it, using white coton pads: they realy turn black as they pick up dirt.My bike is a daily driver even in winter conditions so it gets dirty and the cleaner cleans.

But I do follow up with Gold Class paste wax for a better shine and some longer durability.

I put Nu-Finish on my father-in-law's beater two weeks ago. Prior to that, I used Meguiar's cleaner wax. I have to give the edge to Nu-Finish. It did a better job. Meguiar's cleaner wax is still an excellent product, though. The cleaning properties of the two waxes are virtually identical. Nu-Finish just leaves a better shine.

Caveat: I clayed before applying Nu-Finish. I don't know how much the claying helped improve the shine. I don't think it did too much- the car is a real beater, with a good deal of clearcoat deterioration on some panels (it was in an accident and was taken to a cut-rate body shop). Still, though, the clay might be the reason why Nu-Finish had a better shine. I don't think so, but I am open to comments, because I could well be wrong.

The Meg Cleaner Wax is a good beater wax and is very easy and fast to use. But Nu-Finish is still the ultimate beater wax IMO.

I use Meg's cleaner/wax on my Dad's beater truck. It does a super job of removing light oxidation, grease, caked on grime that washing won't remove, and all around cleaning, while leaving a minute layer of protection. It left a pretty nice gloss and slickness to a finish that almost had none before the C/W was applied. I'm thinking of trying NuFinish later and compare durability and cleaning action with the carnauba cleaner/waxes. At a recent car show I attended, I saw a few owners using the Meg's C/W as show prep. :scared I figured show car owners would know better....

I used it regularly in my 3 stage wax process. I think it works pretty well. I've never used it on a heavily oxidized car or anything, so I can't really say how well it cleans. The cars I used it on were already pretty clean because I waxed them often. Even after the 3 stage wax I would still have to redo it every 4 months at least. I usually did it every 3 months but you could stretch it to 4.

Nu-Finish isnt a wax tho...its like Klasse n Zaino...I hate Nu-FInish but it protects the longest for the price. Works ok on my spare wrecked cars.

Its ok. I think it was the one that left that haze on my car. It cam in a holdy megauirs gift set and i needed a quick wax so i used it. last preaty good.
