Meguiars 84,83,82, not working for me

i detailed my gf's car with the rotory and 84 well i had caled meguiars to speak to a rep who said to use it with a red cutting pad. I had tried the 84 & 83 with the polishing pad and nothing, this was at 1500rpms. The rep told me to go up to 1800rpms which im not too comfortable with i did it anyway. any how the 84 works out great when you remove it while still wet kinda oily. I then proceeded to the 83 and a polishing pad at 1500 on to 82 and the pc. All in all it came out great the next day in the sun there were no micro marring or swil marks but when i washed it a week later theres some light swirl marks on the hood. Is there anything i may not be doing wrong or should i be working this in til it gets dry. I may try the 84 and follow it up with something like Light Cut cause i dont think the 83 &82 are aggressive enought to remove some of the light swirl marks



any suggestions
 
#83 (DACP) is to be polished until it breaks down to a powder. If you have many swirls, then a cutting pad will be needed.



After #83, switch to #80 (Speed Glaze) and a polish pad.



After #80, switch to #3 (Machine Glaze) with a finish pad at a much slower speed and work it wet.



For more gloss, you can use Hand Polish with a finish pad as well and again, slow and wet.



You may have induced some micro-marring while washing if they were not there prior. Make SURE you use a good lambskin wash mit and keep a good flow of clean water on the finish as well. You could use the two-bucket method as well.



If it's now only micro-marring, use the #80 and a polish pad. Then follow with #3 and or hand glaze and a finish pad. You could start with a finish pad anyway to be safe as it's only fine marring.



Keep the speed 1200 and lower when finishing. Check your pad often for build-up as dried polish will mark-up any finish. Use a spur that is designed for foam or a brush to remove all dried polish.

well i was told to go to the 82 after the 83 i may have to go buy the 80. is the 83 supposed to remove spider webs ive noticed on some people that use it with a PC it does but even with a cutting/ polishing pad at 5100rpms it doesnt remove micro marring. Thats why i was contemplating the 1800 rpms but i decided no.
 
YES DACP WILL remove most anything. You need to use a cut pad, run it 5 or 6 on the PC with a little downward pressure. Keeep going over area until it powders. Wipe off. Still have defects? If so, they may be too deep or may need a wool pad.

Yes i did it like this

84-red-1500rpms

83-yel-1500rpms

82-yel- PC

81 hand

20 hand



im going to try it again but like i said before i didnt think the 82 was worth much cause ive tried using it with a rotory :nixweiss didnt work not even with a pc it just keeps caking up. The 83 seems more like a cleaner as opposed to smr duh DACP any how i think im using these wrong but im goin by what the instructions.

Cant i just go from 84-red-1500 to lets say DACP-yel-pc?



This may be a user problem cause ive noticed the most complicated products always seems to bee cleaner polishes like 83 & 84 but the 84 i did like :xyxthumbs

Ideally, you should be able to go from the #84/W-7006/RB to the #38/W-8006/PC



I often do an extra step and that's to re-buff with the rotary after the #83 with the #83/W-8006 to insure any remaining compound haze is removed.



I think results will always be dependent on the hardness of the paint, and the skill and technique of the person doing the rotary buffer work. The key being to buff the #84 completely, so that the diminishing abrasives have completely broken down.
