Meguiars #66

My wondering is if I am working on a car, and I think it just needs a little more warmth or pop. Will the ammount of carnauba left by #66 negate the ability to top it with anything?
 
Tass- why not just use the pro polish w/ carnuba? It cleans, it protects, it lasts and it's cheap! :D
 
Yes, but not as cheap as #66. And I would think it has a lesser cleaning ability than this product, or am I wrong?
 
Thats why I am going with #66, its $24 for a gallon, wheras Poorboy's Polish w/Carnauba is $55.

I do not think Steve has a large enough production base to offer large discounts on buying big ammounts (with the exception of bulk orders)
 
Actually- When you count in longevity of finish, I think you'll find Steve's products to be cheaper. People are getting months out of the PP w/carnuba. Wax as you know is good for MAYBE 30 days.
 
I inform people that the wax is only good for 30 days currently, so it would not be much of a change.

Its just hard to justify that $55 for a gallon of PwC.
 
Okay hear me out-

First of all, are you bearing the cost or are you passing it on to the customer? If you pass it on then labor is the predominant issue.

If you do not pass cost on, then here is where it can save you bucks:

The polish is roughly twice as spendy but lets say lasts 3x as long. You don't have to reapply it for two wash/wax cycles and collect your usual fee. Maybe you touch it up with QD+. On top of that you save labor which is also important in calculating your overall cost.
 
are there any techniques to using the #66? I thought I read where something with a spray bottle, but I might have read wrong.

Is #66 Online order only unless I have a supplier or can I find it OTC at a Pepboys?

To answer your question Yes it can be applied to the pad or surface with a spray bottle. I know this was an issue for sure with the pink/purple (old version) of # 66 because it was so thin(runny).
The new version is a green color if i remember correctly. I had a large stock of old stuff i'm just now finishing up.
It can be purchased online, but you may be able to find it locally at an automotive paint supply store etc. I don't think i've ever seen it at a pep boys or other small parts store. If anyone has chime in.....
If you are looking to avoid online- an auto body supply store- many of which carry meguiars and 3M products would be your best bet.
 
Is there a difference between #66 and #6? I was reading the descriptions on the megs site and they seem to be very similar products.
 
#6 is a consumer based product while #66 is more for professionals. It works best when applied by machine. I don't think it would really break down to a fine pollish by hand.
