Meguiars #66 Look Alikes

I have read a few threads about Meguiars #66 Quick Detailer which seems to be a great One Stepper or base product. It is a 4 on the abrasive scale to tackle swirl marks which is the same as Speed Glaze, plus it adds a layer of protection with decent duability. My question is are there any other products on the market that compete or are better the #66 that can effectivly remove swirls and lay down protection in one? I have used ColorX before which leaves a polymer protection, but can't takle swirls like #66 can. What others products can do what #66 can or better? thanks for the help

thank for the replys, i am sure there are quite a few products that could be mixed together but I am looking for ones sold as is and marketed to perform like #66.

Any others out there. Is #66 in a class by itself?

I really don't think you'll find anything like #66 OTC. Most all-in-ones only have light cleaners. I really can't think of to many products online that are like #66 either. :nixweiss

If your that happy with #66 why not just order it?

*edit* I just noticed your in Central Jersey. You should definately take a ride to PAL's Automotive in Piscataway, NJ. Mark has every Meguiar's products I've seen, and a bunch of other stuff. PM me if you need directions or telephone number, I don't want to post it because i'm not sure if that breaks a forum rule.

To add to John's post, Mark offers a wealth of knowledge on the products he sells, along with good pricing and customer service. If you're in the market for a new foam gun, Mark's got 'em as well.

thanks for the replys.

mtmaher1, how well did #66 tackle swirls. Did you use it by rotary?

I have never used #66 before just read alot of good reviews on it. I just wanted to see if there was any other comparable products or even ones that work better then #66. Laser Buff looks interesting, but I am not sure I would want to use that too often as it says is starts off as a compound.

I have been to PAL quite a few times. The last time i was there Mark didn't have #66 in 32oz, just gallon size. thanks again

i have some older 66 before they updated it.

Its purple and more runny than new

if i remember right the new stuff is green? but thicker - which would be good.

i've posted pics before but maybe not on here so i'll try to get dig some up.

here is a picture after one pass on a single stage paint truck hood. You can see how much it clears up the haze

here is a before of a chevy pickup

and this is the after -

66 was hit with wg. sealant (if memory searves) for a little more protection when done

the #66 did the work in removing defects

Both cases were done with a rotary and a 3m waffle polishing / finessing pad.
