Megs WASH. Two types, which is better/why?

I originally purchased the Megs "00 Professional Car Wash". It cost 6 bucks or so and i got 16 oz.

While at wall mart i found Megs NXT Car wash in what looks to be gallon size for the same 6 bucks.

Which is better and why? Is either a bad choice? What wash is the BEST to use on easily scratched black paint with M21 as a sealant....(any brand..not specifically megs)

thanks!

megs nxt or gold class is supposed to be really good...I use megs super soap from teh detailer line...really slick through the whole wash...I pray about 5 sprays of a QD in my wash bucket too to aid in slickness...

sealant type or wax is irrelevant to the wash....

Meg's 00 has less suds but better lubricity than NXT or GC in my opinion. Between GC and NXT, I personally prefer GC at the very least because the concentrate is not nearly as thick as NXT and so is easier to mix.

But for rinsing wash soaps in general, I much prefer Griot's and/or Jeff's Werkstatt to any of the Meg's choices. They're a little more, but worth it to me and I do notice a definite difference.

I do not have experience with #00 so can't really comment there. However, GC and NXT are quality washes - I prefer GC from these two...You can purchase a 1.25 gallon jug from costco for about $7.

"Best Wash" is a very loaded question as there are many excellent car shampoos available. Performance among them can even differ greatly depending on the hardness of the water used. With all environmental variables being equal, I prefer Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds, Duragloss 915, or Danase Foaming Car Wash. All have top-notch lubricity and long-lasting suds.

i use soap from a company called L&C. i used one called washnwax for awhile, had a gallon so it lasted plenty. i was very satisfied but i went for some more and i had to settle for another L&C product called siliwash. i was very disapointed, i wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

I use NXT almost exclusively. Its over the counter, has great sudsing action, decent slickness, and its at the right price.

I've used many of Meguiar's soaps. The #00 is a very fine product, it's less of a mass-marketed product and targets a pro crowd, if I may, as it's "body shop safe". It doesn't have the big scents and flashy packaging of the other products you mention. As mentioned, lubricity is very good and has a sparkling clean finish.

The GC is a great buy. I prefer the NXT, I found I had a burning senesation on my hands while using the GC for long periods of time - - but that's a personal thing. NXT is my "bulk" shampoo.

My favorite Meg's shampoos are #00 and then #62, primarily for their lubricity. GC didn't impress me...only so-so lubricity compared to the others (let alone compared to Griot's).

My favoriet shampoo is Griot's, which is the only thing I use on anything I really care about (via foamgun, of course ;) ).

They actually have more than two. They have the 00 Profesional, NXT, Gold Class and the Crystal system shampoo.

I have tried NXT, Gold Class and the Crystal system shampoos. NXT definitely suds more and seems to help the it glide over the car better.

However, I do buy the Crystal stuff to do the wheels and wheel wells with since it is cheaper.

Another vote for the NXT. A long while back I used to use Mothers California Gold exclusively then tried GC, some other Megs brand, Poorboys and now NXT. The NXT is my favorite out of them all.

NXT is a great choice. It works a lot better if you have hard water and offers seemingly superior slickness.

GC is a more gentle soap overall.

I prefer the Meg's Hyper Wash from the detailer line. Has the slickness of NXT and has superior 'cleansing' ability to remove contaminants, BUT does NOT strip waxes/sealants. At 400:1, it still does its job very well on a "garage dusty" vehicle. I go a touch stronger for most jobs. Price works out a little better than NXT as well.

great! Thank you guys VERY much for all the replies!!

Now, i notice a lot of people add stuff to their wash solution... Is there anyting recomended that i add to the nxt?

thanks again fellas.

Anyone? Should i add anything to the megs wash to help prevent scratches in my black paint, or leave it alone?

I'd say your washing technique would be more important than adding something into the wash solution to prevent swirls and scratches.

NXT alone works very well for me.

Gold Class-- have gotten a gallon @ target for $10.99. I go easy on it, and I put a couple of capfuls of ONR in with it,--5 gallon bucket. Pretty slick. Soap is where i draw the line about being obessive. I can make any brand work for me.
