Megs Tech wax 2.0 (again)

So I have used many different waxes, some expensive some not. I have to say that I really believe this new 2.0 is just as good, in terms of appearance and slickness, as any higher end wax out there. I find it to be so deep and reflective that I keep neglecting my more expensive waxes to use this. Plus it couldn't go on or come off any easier. I think we get so suckered in and brainwashed to think that you have to spend a fortune on waxes for them to be good but that's just SOOO not true. I mean when you really remove yourself from what we do and read about...ok now jewel the paint to the microscopic level etc etc...c'mon already. Optically speaking the human eye can only take in so much, the rest is fluff. Wow, sorry for the rant. I also love p21s but I did a side by side on my wifes black car and 2.0 did look better which I did NOT expect. I think because 2.0 is a otc product we often don't want to think or admit that it's just as good as anything we order online because we have to justify the $$$ on the non otc products. Ok, I'm off my soap box. :dance
 
I LOVE the looks of NXT 2.0. However, I am not getting any better durability out of it than I did with the original.



I do agree that you don't have to spend an arm and a leg on waxes / sealants though. I still think Carnauba Moose Wax (@ $15) is a great wax, and Zaino doesn't have to be expensive...Z5pro and Z-AIO are all you need.
 
i agree. i have been using the original NXT for about three years now. i don't use it on my DD (845IW) but i find that its the best for my two garage queens that never see weather or dirt. you simply cannot beat the ease of application and results. :woot2:
 
i think the major benefit of 2.0 over the original is how much easier it is to take off. i found the original to be really hard to remove compared to other newer products.



By the way, for anyone who still has the original and doesnt know what to do with it, it works really well as wheel wax. I applied it, removed most of it, and then did a final wipe down with 303 protectant, brake dust comes off like nothing now.

I always found the original to come off like butter with absolutely no effort. I think that's what most people would say too from what I've read. I wonder if you were putting it on a little thick?
 
I found NXT1 relatively easy to remove but there were others that were easier. I think the OTC benchmark for ease of removal was Mothers Reflections. NXT2 now comes much closer to it.



Both NXTs are a little sensitive to drying time whereas Reflections didn't care.



Still, all of the above are easy to use.
 
NXT 2.0 and DG 111 are my 2 of choice. 111 gives the car a lil wetter look. I have both on my car and the are holding up great. Been on the cars for 3 months. 2x I have used Prima Hydro when drying the car so that added a lil boost I guess.

I found a place here to get a Gallon of 111 for $18
 
I did a 1/2 hood test of v1 and v2 and didn't find any significant difference in application, looks, or durability.



It is one of my favorite OTCs though..a relatively warm looking sealant

thats probably where i went wrong, i let it dry for a good 20 25 minutes.
 
The original NXT looked nice when I used it shortly after it came out, but the durability sucked. If I could get an honest 1 1/2 to 2 months protection from it, I wouldn't have a problem using it regularly.

NXT V2 can still be a bit of a PITA to work with in anything but optimal conditions, but none the less it is a fantastic wax. M26 though is the one I keep out in front though because it is REDICIOUSLY easy to work with. My next wax to look into though will be M20 as I hear it is even easier to use than M26.

I think you'd really like M21. It's based on the same technology as NXT..so similar in looks (handsome on dark colors). I find it very easy to use and much more durable.
 
I have been using NXT 2.0 on my black Mustang for the past 6 months trying to maintain it with UQD and have to say that the durability is still sub-par. I will be going back to Duragloss once I have time to repolish.

I totally agree . There is so much hype over products and I just dont see it.
 
As it's been said a few thousand times..90% is the prep.



It's definitely a great OTC. I think most think NXT has the look..it's big criticism is the longevity...but if you like to wax every 1 to 2 months, then you're golden.



I do think it's worth a couple bucks to go to Meg's Pro line. as in M21 instead of NXT and M26 instead Gold Class. In both cases, the pro line seems to be more durable.



They're not as easy to find as the consumer line..but some auto parts store carry M26 and you can find both if you have a Paint and Body shop..Meg's site has a dealer locator.
