Anyone ever try this? I saw a post on another board from a guy who is VERY knowledgeable about car <em class='bbc'>maintenance[/i] and he recommended Soft Scrub (the one w/o bleach) to remove wax residue from black trim.

Ran a search, but came up with nada. Any experiences?

If this is the stuff I'm thinking about, it comes in a pump spray bottle. If no one has tried it, I may have to stop at the grocery store on the way just to look a the label.

P.S. - The simple fact that I will probably go out of my way today to read a label scares me. Am I obsessed? :p

Said this about soft scrub for windows it is abrasive

It depends on what you are cleaning off the windows. I found this el cheapo foaming window stuff at Auto Zone about a month ago and that stuff has worked great. If you are trying to get water spots off, though, you might want to use the vinegar because that really does work well. RainX used to make a really great glass cleaner but I haven't seen it for a long time. It was really abrasive like Soft Scrub or something and it cleaned the outside great.

ShortCut's thread has me thinking again. I may have to give this a try. Puterbum, I'm curious as to what you think. :nixweiss

... when it comes to residue:

1 - On and around two smooth vinyl strips that run down each side of the roof. (Not window weatherstipping. This is something strange that Volvo does. Both strips are on the roof about 3 inches from the edge.)

2 - On and around the textured (kind of pebbly, if that's a word), flat-black plastic strips at the "drip line" down the side of the car.

<strong class='bbc'>Southern have you tried a soft toothbrush with some QD??? [/b]</blockquote>
Yeah. That's what I'm using on the vinyl on the roof. The textured stuff on the side is the real bear. No matter how careful I try to be with the PC, I seem to hit it a few times. I guess I'd better give up on a short cut and break out the peanut butter!

I read another tip from somewhere.

Go get a drafting eraser...They are a soft white rubber...Preferable the ones in a pencil type clicker thingy.

And erase it away. I hjave not tried it but heck I do not think it could do damage??:nixweiss

Haven't heard this one before, but will give it try and post results. I'm like you, don't see where it could hurt anything.

the bottle says synthetic wax--not sealant--so with washing cars every 2 weeks how long will it last? and is #20 better to go with? it is a sealant?

Hi Pad, I would say 2-6 weeks the most on the NXT and about 8-12 weeks on the #20, so after every other wash layer a new coat of NXT if you like. You can also go with BFWD and top it with Collinite paste wax to get about 6 months of protection on your ride. To answer your question, yes a sealant will last longer but with Collinite paste wax it will almost last just as a sealant.

I used the Meg twins a few years back and thought - eh not bad, but after trying BFWD - you won't go back.

:iagree: I am not a big fan of the NXT. BFWD is the real deal!!! And as Angelo said, topping it with Collinite will give you remarkable durability.

NXT is a sealant. Having wax on the bottle simply came down to marketing as most novice detailers go to the store looking for a wax, not a sealant. I've always been happy with NXT 2.0 but BFWD is noticeably better! :)

#20 actually has some light cleaning abilities, and I like it better than NXT as it leaves a nice slick feeling to the paint.

How long each last depends on the elements the car is subject too. 2-3 months should not be a problem for most people.

ok whats difference in megs 20 and 21? which do you prefer?

and im liking the sound of that bfwd -- im gonna give that a whirl when i can swing it --thnx for your replies!
