Meg's coming out with a new sealant?

Main reason I would like to know is that I will be ordering SG shortly and if megs came out with a new sealant, I would hold off on the SG until I got some reviews on the new meg sealant.

Polymer Sealant (this is #20)

Polymer based formulation provides extra-durable paint protection. A unique blend of polymers, resins, silicones and imported waxes provides exceptional durability. Polymer Sealant ensures superior results on every type of paint, including clear coat.

From Megs website....wait i thought silicones were a no-no.

Mike not answering means there is some truth to the question but he was probley told not to mention anything yet.For some reason MEGS does not want to release any info yet.Once again this is ONLY my chain of thought, but you know MEGS if they want it to be known it would be out already

Well I payed a visit to the local shop that I had mentioned starting this thread and talked to a guy there that said they are indeed "supposed" to get some test batches sometime next month....he had very little info himself on the actual sealant in question. He did say that it would be a pure sealant like Zaino and Klasse. He was only unsure of how megs was gonna design the application process. He doesnt know if a PC or rotary would be needed to heat the sealant up properly to bond or if it would be applicable by hand just like SG and Zaino. I guess we will all find out in due time.

Maybe Mike hasnt responded to us since he prolly wants to keep his job! Meg's is probably trying to keep this development under hush hush for some reason, and doesnt need their employees spreading out their info.

I think it's more a case of spreading himself too thin :)

Seriously though, he's part of a lot of groups, heavily envolved at work and tries to post as much as he can on Meguiar's forum.

The guy has to sleep at some point :xyxthumbs

I've been waiting for him to complete his write up on the engine detail on Meguiar's forums and it's been several weeks so I'm pretty sure the guy doesn't have very much free time these days.

Plus, if it were to be confirmed that a new sealant is on the horizon from Meguiars ... this board would almost self destruct from the hype and anticipation.

Yet, the product may not be ready for many many months. Remember the whole Lab Sample B times.

Take Sal for instance, he's been working on a SMR for years now ... some lucky few have been able to try it but at least, things are being done behind closed doors.

I think Mike has probably learned from experiences past and probably won't be pushing development products to strongly until it nearly ready for launch.

Only for fresh repaints, not those thoroughly cured already or factory paint

Not only for fresh repaints but silicones can be a paint shop nightmare as the silicones can contaminant a shop and prevent paint from adhering properly (fish eyes).

However, unless you working in a sensitive painting area, silicones are not an issue.

For the detailer etc., silicones can actually be a good thing as it can actually make products easier to use.

Way to pop into the thread with a non-answer on the topic, Mike. Pretty sneaky of you.......

Don't hold out on us, we are your friends!

Sorry... I couldn't resist. :D :D :D

Actually, yesterday I stayed pretty busy with helping to register new members, maintaining our sign-up lists for our detailing classes and creating a thread for last Saturday's Detailing 101 Class for the North Coast Vettes club.

Well we/I am trying to find out about this rumor I hear from a Megs Distributor about production of a PURE sealant for megs pro line up? Test batches are said to be released to my local shop around next month....was wondering if you would care to share any of your insight about this??

True, but good body shops know how to properly prep for paint and keep products containing silicone out of their shops altogether.

I wouldn't blame Mike in the least for avoiding an answer here. You can bet there would be 50 replies crying hype within 5 minutes of his post.

Just to note, I didn't start this thread, I didn't leak the information about a new product coming out. To the best of my ability, I will answer questions about this new product and as it becomes available Autopians can try it, test it and then make up their own minds and form their own opinions.

I have tried it, and I do like it. I have a meeting tomorrow where I will have an opportunity to ask as many questions as I like about this new product. So if there is any question you would like to ask, please post it here, or on Meguiar's Online and I'll do my best to get an answer. No hype, no excitement, (on my part), just answers to your questions.

Is everyone down with that?

Mike

SEE like I said there is a product coming out but Mike being the Smart Guy is taking the CAUTION road.I don't blame him one bit,He has a job to worry about!!
