megs #80

There is no cure!
i have a question regarding the use of megs speed glaze. i find it great for light swirl removal and clean up, also enjoy the shine it leaves behind. but last time (first time i used it) i used it i had bonding issues with sg. now if im correct im pretty sure i was told that the bonding came from sg over the #80, because the 80 leaves oils behind and such. i wanan know if this is only an issue with sg because its an acrylic sealant or is it with other sealants/waxes...

because of the bonding issue and lack of beading i got form toppign the sg with ex i polished the paint again with ssr1 and put 2 coats of ex on it. i still dont have beading. so in about 3 weeks or so i plan on doing it over again, this time topping it with a new product, this time with 4star upp. i heard the durabilty is good, shine is great, and beads very well. will the upp over the 80 bond right? or am i looking at another issue.

i know beading isnt a sign that the sealant or wax is protectign but i love BEADS!!!

I haven't heard of using SG without using AIO as the base. You may want to follow #80 with AIO to help with the bonding.

according to steve its supposed to bead. but ive also heard some report th same issue... i never had a problem last time when i applied sg over ssr1. but my question is really with the #80... does it give problems with any other products and would it be ok to use it as a base for upp

Not recommended , sealants like clean base to bond :)

You may get some different suggestions on this, but here's mine.

I would definitely use a paint cleaner of some sort between the #80 and the UPP.
Your SSR1 should work fine.
From what I have read, the SSR1 seems to do a very good job of cleaning and leaving the paint ready for a sealant and you already have it.

Klasse AIO also makes a great base for UPP. (My favorite) It isn't cheap, but it is good and a bottle will last you for a looong time.

If you need to buy a paint cleaner, the 4 Star UPC has had good reviews and is less money than many others.

I put SG over #80 when I did my truck about a month ago. (#80/SG/Collinite/Nattys) It's still holding up fine after all this time in WNY salt and snow. I'm sure the oils in #80 have an effect on SG, but for the length of time that goes inbetween polishing for me (2-3months), it holds up.

hmm weird.. maybe my method of application had something to do with it. what i did was try to apply sg in a different manner. i polished everything at night and applied sg that same night without buffing it off. the next morning without removing the sg i gave it a wash with intent to remove the sg. i figured it would've bonded by then and whatever was left over was unused residue.
