Megs #80 wont take out minor webbing

I just tried some megs #80 with a PC and orange pad 6" it hardly touched the spider webbing works great for swirl removal after rotary use with medium cut compound or was it a hologram.

Its probably just me don't know if I'm not working it long enough, should I just put the rotary to it with compound medium cut, then finish with the PC and the meg #80. I'm worried about the clear coat thickness on my 2002 Tundra and want to use the least aggressive.

Any advice would be welcomed thanks.

First of all #80 works best on a polishing pad. If you wanted to go to a cutting pad then I would use #83( not recommended by Meguiar's).

Try working in #80 with about 15-20lbs of pressure and work it in for a long time (use speed 5 or 6)! When it turns really clear and looks like there is a thin layer of gel on the finish then it is broken down.

If you havent done any detailing on your truck before I wouldn't be worried about the clear yet. Read somewhere that people over at Megs say using #83 on your finish a lot of times isn't too bad...Dont know if I would follow that piece of information as I am like you and like to go less aggressive to stay safe on my own car.

I would try the #83 and then step it down to #80 on either a polishing or finishing pad to get it looking perfect. Depending on how soft your paint is will determine which pad you need, I find the finishing pad works best for me with slow passes and a little pressure like Sneek mentioned.

Good luck!

Most spider webbing isn't really minor. 83 and a light cut pad and a PC will do better but i'd try 80 and a polishing pad with your rotary first then finish with the same combo on your PC.
