Megs#7 over Polymer

Just curious...I have had 4 coats of Finish First Polish(polymer sealant) on my car and have been topping it with Blitz every month. One weekend, got bored and I tried to apply Megs #7 and then Blitz. Megs #7 was applied using an orbital and buffed off by hand. Blitz was applied by hand. By doing so, do you think I compromised the 4 layers of Finish First polish underneath by applying the #7 on top of it? Megs #7 is suppose to be non-abrasive. Just a glaze. Has anyone done this on top of a polymer sealant? I got the nice wet look that I want but also would like to preserve the 4 coats of polymer protection underneath. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...
 
Finish First can't really layer because of it's fine polish. In essence, each coat removes the previous, and at any given time you really only have one coat on the car. Kinda like applying multiple coats of Klasse AIO. It never really builds layers, just recleans/polishes the paint after each coat. But to answer the question, I don't think Meguiar's #7 would harm even one layer of FF, and I know Blitz is completely safe. The only things in these products that could degrade the FF would be the solvents. The only thing I would worry about would be the excess rubbing caused by the buffer that could remove the FF. By hand would be the safest bet. If it were me though, I'd completely skip the #7 and just use the Blitz.

Even though #7 is a non-abrasive glaze, it contains enough refined mineral spirits to strip everything on your paint. So it is very likely that the only thing on your car right now is that and Blitz. The Finish First is gone. If next time you would like to preserve the 4 coats of polymers and still get the nice wet look, stick to your previous regimen of topping Finish First with a wax. You might want to upgrade from Blitz to a shinier, wetter wax like S100/P21S.



Also, I cannot confirm this, but I hear that Finish First contains some sort of cleaner/polish preventing any actual “layering� to happen. I can’t guarantee it, as the company denies it, but I found a few posts/threads about it.

Thanks for the insights. I already purchased S100 from a Harley dealership and will be trying it on the car this weekend. Also thinking of getting Klasse. Work it to a couple of layers then alternate Blitz and S100 on top of it and see what looks best. Thanks again....

I agree with BW - I think ALL glazes are totally incompatible with polymer systems. Searches in old threads will find people saying this, and I tried a glaze over my Klasse and I reported it to strip it off in the spots I tried it on. It was the solvents that are incompatible. Enjoy the S100. :)
