Meg's #34

I have just used up the last of my Meg's #34. I purchased Eagle1's spray & shine and am very unhappy with the performance. Meg's #34 leaves the surface felling much smoother and the smell is nice I might add.....

For $24.99 I can get another gallon of the #34, or I was hoping that I could get some opinions on what works better than #34 in the same price range. Please be honest, I will need to pick somthing up ASAP.

I guess it's a little more expensive but I have extra #34 left over from my gallon because I absolutely ADORE ClearKote's QuikShine (about $37/gal). I find myself using less and being much happier with the outcome.

Lots of folks seem to love FK425, but I haven't tried it ($27.51/gal on their web site under Professional products).

I've used some of the products under discussion.

#34 leaves very little of anything behind.

Griot's Speed Shine leaves carnauba-based protection behind and imparts more slickness.

QuikShine leaves non-carnauba protection behind and slickens up the surface even more.

FK425 leaves more non-carnauba protection behind and slickens up the surface a *lot* more.

I love QD's and certainly go along with the above recommendations but if you want something extremely similar to #34, Poorboys Spray and Wipe is the closest.

I've found that #34 leaves almost nothing behind as mentioned above and it also seems to have more surfactant's and emusifiers than other QD's making it a better cleaning QD than most.

I say this because everyday I drive the car, I remove the bugs with an MF afterwards and I have found that #34 seems to lift off the bug splat and make it easier to remove than every other QD except for PB's S&W which is marketed as a stronger QD or a supposed "waterless wash". S&W is similar in it's ease of removing the bug splat and the road grime which is why I draw the comparison. They are also similarly priced and easy to find in gallon sizes. I still like the smell of #34 better though.

I was using #34 as well but after I ran out I've just been mixing up DP Rinsless Wash as a QD. The directions say to use 2 ounces of DP for 32 ounces of water. I've been using a 16 oz. spray bottle so I've just been using about 1 1/2 ounces of DP and the rest water to make it slightly richer. It definitely does not smell as nice as #34 but so far I've been pleased with it's performance. However I am not a big QDer, I mainly just used it as a clay lube, and for touching up after a full detail. Maybe if it doesn't rain tomorrow I'll give it a QD to clean things up.

Wow, thx for all the info on differents QD's out there. I have chose to go with the FK 425. It's only a few dollars more at $27.51. So I thought I would give it a shot.
