Megs 205 or SRP?

first ill be doing this by hand. I want to top with Autoglym HD wax this time around. But as far as swirl/scratch remover which will give me the better results? Megs 205 or SRP?
 
SRP has barely any noticeable cut, especially by hand. It does have a slight filling ability like a glaze and acts like a sealant also. If you're trying to remove swirls I would use M205, then perhaps seal/fill with srp, then top with the HD wax.



Maybe someone can chime in about doing it by hand and correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you'll be able to get much correction by hand. Perhaps test the above steps, or just use a glaze to fill the swirls and then the wax.
 
I wouldn't expect 205 do do much correction by hand either. If working by hand I'd lean towards M105 or Ultimate Compound. I might do UC followed by SRP .
 
One bit of advice I can't stress enough, do a test area, then do the math of how long it will take you to do the whole car by hand. If you are somewhat sane, you will buy a machine. That said, grab megs UC and SwirlX and see if they work well enough for you on the test spot. If it doesn't work out, you can always use them with a DA.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Same polish, pad and paint, you can get better results with a $50 (used) to $100 (new) PC in about 1 hour of polishing than you would by hand in about 5+ hours. Plus you won't feel your arm, fingers and shoulder for 3 days. I've done a hood before just from losing a bet (don't ask) and I will never, ever again do anything like that. Spend the $50 on a used PC and another $10-15 on a couple used pads and you'll thank me, and yakky, immediately.

At the most, I'd plan to do one/two panels per session after doing regularly-scheduled washes.



[Insert "yeah, buy a polisher" advice here...]



Actually, if I were doing a whole vehicle by hand I'd get some 1Z Paint Polish and just aim for "considerably better, and plenty good enough" rather than trying to be all "Autopian" about it.
