Medical Leave of Absence from work...

I am rarely on here much anymore, but saw this and wanted to respond and give out my best wishes.

Bee, My thoughts are, your insurance should have included both sort and long term disability policies in them. Almost all pilots I know have these policies. You might want to definately look into it.

Yeah, right now it has my undivided attention. Unfortunately, you have to be with the company for more than one year and off of probationary status to get either long term or short term disability. Thankfully, I do qualify for Pilot Mutual Aid which is a benefit paid for by all of our pilots, *for* all of our pilots. It's meant as a bridge from when you leave work on a MLOA to when you qualify for your first disability insurance benefit. It isn't a 100% salary replacement, but it should be enough to keep us out of really hot water. Luckily, it only takes 30 days of being on MLOA for this to kick in, so I'm only going one month without any money at alll coming in. Not too bad.

Good to see you post again, Josh... been wondering where you've been.

Most of the time, nothing is going to pay 100%. Heck, many LTD policies only pay about 62%. Obviously some are higher than others. Good luck to you.
