Matte/Flat UV Interior Dressing

I've been looking for an absolutely matte/flat interior rubber/vinyl/plastic dressing that has uv protection and slight cleaning ability.

I know about 303 and vinylx, but as i understand it, both leave a satin finish even w/buffing....

suggestion?

Einszett Cockpit Cleaner will leave it absolutely matte.

absolutely.... 1z cockpit premium is what you want! It cleans, it has UV protection, smells nice and its is absolutely 100% flat matte finish.

if you have an audi/vw or similar car with a matte dash... this is what you want!

303 IS NOT MATTE FINISH! I dunno where in the hell people get the idea that it is.... I used 303 on my VW because people kept telling me it was matte finish and it absolutely is not. It took my dash from flat matte black to satin shine, completely different finish from what OEM was, and way too shiney for me. It took forever to get rid of the shine the 303 left but I finally got it somewhat back to its previous matte finish. I refuse to use anything but 1z on the audi now.

I agree 303 does have a little gloss to it. I think the finnish really depends on the type and texture of the surface it's applied to.

An unintended testament to durability, perhaps;)

BluHeaven, or anyone that fits in the same category, since you have experience with both, did you find that the 1Z attracted more or less dust than the 303? I'm a fan of the 303 but have a vehicle that would benefit from a totally matte appearance, assuming that dust attraction is low.

snow

1z is anti static and atracts no dust at all. I havent cleaned my interior since july and there is very little to no dust where I cleaned/treated with the 1z. Theres actually more dust on my back seats than the dash and plastic pieces I used the 1z on!

When I used the 303 in the VW I had to wipe it down every week or two to get rid of a dust buildup

I also agree that the 1Z Cockpit Premium is a great product for those of us that dont like sheen on our dashes.

Griots Interior Cleaner is good also, but I dont know if it offers any protection...

303 always works well. It's reputable for its good protection. Regarding Cockpit Premium, Mike of Einszett said not too long ago that it contains no significant UV protection - it's more of an interior QD/cleaner. Whether or not a dressing is enough to make a difference in a few years - that you'll have to decide.

He wrote this...

Because Cockpit Premium is designed to be used on the interior, the level of UV protection is very minor. This is because glass in today's vehicles already have UV filters in them. Therefore, it is not necessary to have maximum UV protection like what is needed on the exterior.

ahh yes... he is right there. On top of the standard UV filtering glass I have high quality tint on all windows (minus windshield) and a good sunshade.

I wear prescription glasses that are photochromatic... they are UV activated and absolutely do not tint when I'm in the car, regardless of if the sun is shining right in my face or even if I have a window down.

I'm sure what bit of UV protection that is in the 1z is probably plenty considering

unless of course you have a convertible......

My convertible's interior looks like new after having used 303 on the leather and vinyl for 5 years. But I too would like a perfectly matte finish. Are you listening 1Z? :)

But how much is your convertible top really down and how often are you oriented in such a way that direct sunlight is beating down on the dash long enough to scorch it or dry it out?

Yes :D I'll let them know.

Regards,

I just know I bought 303 after all the ranting and on my Passat It did gloss the dash some and since I put it on I have had more of an accumulation of dust than usual. I'm waiting for it to disperse and maybe I will order the 1Z if its not too pricie.

Been looking at PoorBoy's Natural Look. It seems the the concenus is that it has a very matte finish, more matte then 303 anyways, and UV protection, which 1Z Cockpit Premium has very little of. Does Cockpit Premium or Natural Look have a flatter finish? And, does Natural Look have any anti-static properties?

I use Poorboys Natural Look and have never had any complaints. Get some Spray & Wipe while you are there and you'll wonder how you ever got along without it. It's just wonderful stuff.
