I put the flyers by there mailbox in a plastic bad (will be getting in) with my name and logo on it. When i was handing out flyers door to door, It took way to long. I said to myself "There must be a way that I can tell a customer everything I wanted to about my service, but on paper and save time". I think looked at other peoples flyers and saw it was just a flyer. I then said to myself that I am going to act like I dont know what detailing is.
I looked at the flyer and said " Ill never pay 165 dollars for that". That is alot of money and it is not worth it, cause what is so special about detailing anyways? So then I put together a packaged that told the customer the following.
Specials, Certified, We come to you with water and electric, top ten reasons to choose Rich's, all services described in every little detail. This ended up being a brochure, flyer, certificate and on the back the top ten reasons. People almost think they are getting a mini newspaper, but in fact they most likely never received a service package like this. Therefore, I went beyond the norm and stimulated intrest even if they didnt have any, just because they wanted to read or skim this well put together material.
It showed that I also took the time and what they believe alot of money to hand these out to all the customers in the area. Someone asked me how do I hand out that many flyers and do the details? I hand that many out due to the fact that we start our day around 7am. I personally get up alot about 4.30 am or so and clean the trucks up. I then load them and get ready for the day. Typical details seem to run us around dinner time or so, 530 ish about 8-9 hours of work. We also do not take any breaks when we detail what so ever. Only once when we did the huge RV we actually took a ten minute breather. It stays light pretty late in the day so there is alot of time left to hand out flyers. WE usually grab a small lunch like a couple slices of peices, due our flyers or whatever it can be and then I go home and eat a real dinner.
It seems like alot and I get really worn out, especially when I go to my other 1 day or 2 day job because they pay for my expensive tution. Some days ill detail and then go to work for 5 or 6 hours, so it is ruff. It has gotten to the point though, where I cant juggle detailing, work, full time school, advertising, customer service etc.. Im really worn out and have become very agitated ill admit it.
Also the cost of expanding has really hurt me, but ill take the risk of doing it. If I fail i know I gave it my all and I will move on, but i dont see that happening. My second goal was to open a high end cafe shop, but hey i cant do everything. My main goals now is to be able to get enough capital so i can get my product line developed and open my school up.
