massive orange peel thru out all of car! 56k warning

well feeling bored yesterday with nothing to do i decided to detail the cleaning lady's car. she has a hyundai elantra that from first glance u think she has oxidation thru out her whole car. but inspecting the paint a little more u'd notice its actually this, THRU OUT HER WHOLE CAR

she did have a good amount of swirling that i helped her out with but i dont think theres much other than that to make the paint look any better...

this is the car over all, not much of eye candy (to the detailer's eye) but i dont think theres much else that could be done. :( feel bad for her

Yeah I don't think that Hyundai had detailers in mind when they painted that car!!! Oh well, you made it look pretty good, PROPS

I got orange peel like a yang too, wetsanding and another coat of clear and another wetsanding is in the future...
 
i forgot to mention that the orange peel on the car was actually on the clearcoat too. most cases of orange peel that ive encountered was mainly from the base coat, making a cc paint unfixable. i think wetsanding would help it out a lot but i havent even reached that level in comfort yet
 
great work there. when my friend first detailed my new 2004 acura tsx, i used poorboys SSRs and i was really impressed by the results. since ive seen the good results of meguiar's #80, and #83 i might pick one up as well.

i live really close(5min) away from an official meguiar's detailing store and i was thinking of picking one up when i buy my porter cable.

since my friend has SSRs already and they are good indeed, i think im gonna go with a differ brand and go with #80 and #83.
 
Korean cars have some of the worst orange peel I've seen. The whole car is covered in that fine orange peel that makes things look blury. The orange peel in my tailgate is large, and makes things look like a fun house mirror. My hood looks flawless, so figure that out. That car still looks better than 99% of the cars on the road.
 
i would always use #83 with ssr1 and was happy with the results. they would remve 75% of surface defects. but with the 83/80 combo i notice that 80 was a tad bit more stronger than ssr1, probably comparable to ssr2 maybe, and also filled in some marks and elft a good prime surface.
 
I did a Kia Sportage a few days ago (right after reading this thread) and noticed this too! Some random body panels looked like they had been poorly spray painted--orange peel like I've never seen from a factory paint job before. But other parts of the car were in perfect shape! Very very weird, and definately under the clear coat so there was nothing to be done.
