I had a possible idea for marketing and was wanting to get some of your opinions. I'm about to be graduating college here in December and moving to start a mobile business. I have been doing it on the side for about 5 years now.

Here the local Gold's Gym hires attractive girls to go around downtown, malls, etc giving out guest passes. I was hanging out with one of the girls that used to do this her freshmen year talking about everything I'm doing for starting my business and she asked if I was gonna be harassing people like Gold's does. I laughed and said no, but it got me thinking later - could this possibly work?

What if I hired 2 or 3 attractive younger girls for a few weeks to go around passing out flyers/cards and educate them somewhat on my business. I could pay them a little per day plus something like $10 for every wash and $20 for every detail that calls.

I know this sounds odd, but sex sells and I know these girls used to get tons of interest in the gym from this, why couldn't it work for this as well?
 
It could very well work. I think this one comes down to your personal morals on marketing tactics. If you're personally OK with how you're marketing your business, and it works, then go for it.
 
Let me tell ya something...it's how the world works. It doesn't take an attractive girl to sell me or not sell me on something, BUT that doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't think differently. I brought my gf up to my location where I detail at...and let me tell you..she sold more washes than my partner and I could almost handle. Truth of the matter is folks it works. Like that FW1 waterless crap they sell at gas stations...ever notice the guys go after the women and vice versa for men? Good luck dude..just make sure they are attractive!
 
Just make sure they aren't TOO attractive or the guys they hand the marketing material to might blank out and not hear what they say. Or just place your logo strategically on their shirts :)

You don't need pretty girls handing out leaflets.



Shd get these part-timers to work at your place, where they do simple DRY things such as sitting inside the car and gently cleaning the nooks and cranies. Dressed-up "hotly" but not cheaply hot(!!!), this could be a novelty. And it's not sexual exploitation. Most would agree that many females are more detailed and pay attention to little things vs men. To the male customers, it's that errr...loving touch! Hmmm!



My brother's girlfriends worked in my shop for 2 weeks (school hols) and they hated washing. But they loved applying carnauba waxes with their sweet little soft palms (minus long finger nails, of course). A quick 30minute tutorial, and they were slathering away the nubas.....and the guys tried their very best not to oggle:grinno:



Me? Wifey could just walk in that front door anytime!!! grinno::grinno::grinno:
