Makita N9514BK??

I'd stay away from it, even if you could adapt it to run 7-8" buffing pads, you're looking at a no-load RPM of 6,000. Most rotaries top out at 3000, and even that is way too much. Most polishing is done from 900-1800 RPM tops. Plus, I'd assume an angle grinder has quite a bit more torque, which would probably lead to paint burning.

A good pickup in the $90 range would be a used Porter-Cable 7336 or 7424, or if you're set on a rotary, you could pick up the Harbor Freight rotary and a good pad set for around that price.

Thanks. That looked like a deal too good to be true. I have a 7424, but I'm looking to take that step up to a rotary. The problem is I don't have $250 to swing at something I wont use that much. Especially when I already have the orbital.

One option would be to pick one up for harbor freight. If you just want to try one out and don't feel like dropping a lot of money into something that you won't use that much, you can't go wrong with a Chicago.

It is hard to beat their price, $25 or $30 plus a good backing plate and a set of pads and you're good to go:

The second one seems to be the newest one they have. The motor isn't rated as high as the first one, but it has the bail style handle and the RPM's go as low as 300 (vs 1000 for the first one). I haven't read any reviews on the newer version yet, but the first one works very well for occassional use.
