Hey, I did a Search under "Makita BO", 25 pages of posts comes up. However, majority of them deat with the rotary 9227. But I am hoping to get info on the RO. I am lookinbg at the BO6040, the 6.6 amp version. Anyone can give me info would be apprecaited. Such as power (does it bog down with pressure), is Makita a reliable manufactuer as I read some posts about breaking down issues and does it remove swirls faster than a PC?

Thanks,

Paul

i have one that i've only used sparingly due to being out of town and health reasons. but when i've used it i've been very impressed with it. the RO mode is very smooth and it seems to correct faster than my pc. it doesn't bog down. the motor seems very torquey. again, my time is limited with it, maybe 2 hours of use, but i think it's great.

I've had similar results with mine. I have closer to 500 hours on mine, no breakage yet.

So this is the machine thats a Random Orbital and a rotory right?

It is not a replacement for a rotary. The forced rotation mode still has the RO going on at the same time, in all honesty I don't use that very much. The RO mode is very nice, makes the PC seem like a kids toy.

Does this require a special backing plate or unusual pads. Or just attach a LC pad and go?

They are pricy SOB's 250$ was the cheapest.

Cheers

I use the 7.5" LC pads. The backing fits like it was made for them.
