Makita 9227 backing plate woes

Hello everyone,



I'm using a 240V version of the Makita 9227.





I recently purchased a smaller backing plate with a 5/8" thread size and to my despair, it wouldn't fit.



The 5/8" thread is too big for my machine.





Does the 9227 come with different spindle thread sizes? I was assured 5/8" would fit but alas .....

Since that is a 240VAC model my guess is the BP is metric which I think is an M14 thread:

Edit: there are adapters out there but I personally don't like using them. If by chance you decide to use one I'd recommend using a thread locker like Loctite on the M14 treads where it attaches to the 9227:

I know the edge adapter comes in 5/8", 14mm, 16mm



so there aare a few different size bp's

make sure you get the correct size

(I would take it to a hardware store and see what size bolt fits on it then order a new plate)

As it’s a 240V version, I’m pretty sure it’s got a 14mm threaded spindle.



I would think that 14mm plates would be available in your area.
