Making the best of a 94 prelude *56K* NO

I have always been a big fan of your detailing work, always looking forward to your posting here and everytime you never fail to impress me with your work :2thumbs: . The work you perform on the Prelude is simply awesome :bow .



Btw I have been considering very long whether to get the cyclo and I would like to hear your opinion on the machine. Does it removes defects better and faster than the PC ? Sometimes I felt I am spending too much time removing swirls and scratches with a DA machine and I really hope the cyclo can help to cut down on the time I spent.

Gen2, I like the cyclo--really I do. It does IMO have a slight edge over the PC for defect removal. The cyclo will not bog under load where the PC otherwise would. Having said that, IMO when you need a rotary, you need a rotary. I don't typically have 15 hours to spend tring to remove severe marring with a DA machine--not when I can do it with one or two passes with the rotary. Some of the cars are simply not in the condition to remove swirls with a DA in a timely fashion. The pc and cyclo both have a place in my arsenal, if I were going to have *one* DA in my arsenal and was relying on it for defect removal, the cyclo would be my choice. How's that? Clear as mud? :D



Bioman, the paint was starting to "check" (they look like crow's feet in the paint), there were also raised "bumps" which when clayed proved to be areas of the CC that were "bubbling."
 
Wow! Great job...esp under the hood. What was your exact process under the hood? What type of degreaser was it? Was it full on?

How would you rate the defect removal abilities of the 3M PI3 RC? Up there with SSR3 and the Hi-Temp Extreme Cut?

The RC and the EC are failry different IMO. The EC is much more aggressive and finishes the same. I tend to think of the 3M PI III RC in the same lines with DACP. SSR3 is not a product that I use--do not like it at all.

The underhood took about 30 minutes to complete.



I pressure washed



degreased with a produc called "MAGNUM" which I buy locally



scrubbed with old brushes, mitss, EZdetail brush, etc.



pressure washed



blew out standing water



dressed with Meguiats hyperdressing 1:1



shut hood, started motor, allowed dressing to set



pop hood and end of detail and wipe/smooth out any uneven spots in the dressing.



The header and block were polished with NXT metal "polysh."

1st post here, so thank you for having me here

i've learned a lot considering the short time I have available to learn and\or practice, and the almost inexistent previous experience



could you post a more detailed, or at least tips to work under the hood ?

like if you should be carefull with something specific, like distributor, for example.

I'm asking you this because I was washing one of my cars long time ago and i opened the hood and began to clean it ( my way :] ), and when I was done the car won't start. So I had to dry the distributor with a hair dryier, that did the trick.



Thanks in advance and if you have the time to explain the whole process you went through this Prelude, will be great, and also a great addition to this site
