Maintenance on RIGID Shop Vac

Hey guys, I just purchased a 5hp 5 gallon rigid and love it. I read the instructions and everything but I was curious how you guys specifically cared for your Rigids? Do you do something with them after usage? How often do you empty the tank/change the filter?

Thanks guys :)

Which model did you buy? I have the 4550 myself. I change my filter about once a month. Sometimes I will take out the filter and blow it out with compressed air in between filter changes. These things are great units and its hard to break them. My only complaint is the filters are so damn expensive!

I don't know the model number off the top of my head, but of the 2 5hp units its the smaller one with a handle on the top. Though I've only used it once, I was impressed :)

do these filters need to be replaced that often. each time i open mine up and see that its got a good amount on it i will spray it down with some water and take off all the gunk and air dry.

You know, I am sure I could get by longer without replacing my filter, they seem to be pretty durable. My wife always has 2-3 sitting in the basement waiting for me so I just change them once a month. I use mine almost every day though.

I have good luck rinsing them out too, then I just pop it back on the vac and run the vac with no hose for about 5-10 mins, and the filter is dry!

I love the Rigid vacs! They are so much more quiet than shop-vacs, and dont spit dust everywhere.

DON"T LEAVE WATER IN THE VAC OVER NIGHT AND DON"T RUN IT FULL OF WATER!!!

Replace the filter after it collapses. If you have any problems with it, call RIGID and they will replace it with a brand new unit free of charge. They didn't ever give me any problems and I've returns dozens of them over the years. They have a lifetime warranty through RIGID and they allowed to be used in commercial environments - unlilke Shop Vac.
