maintaining a swirl free car

Noting that I'm pretty fanatical about not marring my paint, I wouldn't touch it at *all* except to do a full, no-holds-barred wash. I'd worry that trying to QD it or even take any shortcuts at all will lead to marring. I can't even use the CA car dusters without sometimes marring paint, so I quit using those as well.

I know what you mean about how a single use renders black less than spotless...that's a big part of why I quit buying black vehicles ;)

what are your thoughts about ONR? do u think it causes marring/swirling? ive started using this process and havent noticed anything yet.

touchofdetail- When rinseless washes work OK for somebody that's great, they don't, however, work as well for *me* as what I do with the foamgun.

mtbr64- Yeah, you can layer the P21s over the Collinite and you'll probably see a slight increase in the shine. But note that you still have the Collinite (and then the P21S) between the paint and your eyes. Give it a try and see if it's worth it to you.

ron231- If I were you I'd CD-test the stuff you're touching your paint with. Even on the softest black ss lacquer, there are MFs that don't mar at all for me. Other than that [insert usual foamgun lecture here ;) ]

SVR- Heh heh, your routine doesn't sound extreme to me :D I especially like the
Only wash the car when you are motivated enough and have enough time to do your best wash

Doing a quickie just for now wash is not a good idea.

That's just *so* true...a literal *one second* lapse in technique can result in marring, you simply can't rush some things without suffering the consequences. Better to drive a dirty car for a little while longer until you have time/inclination to do the job right.

svr that would work well in your climate but in mine it would destroy the paint. the weather in the winter would make your car dirty as hell dirtier than anything ive seen on click and brag here. and in the spring your car will be caked in mud from the melting snow and dirt thats why the majority of people here use 1 dollar wand washes. what i would really like to know is will 426s be slick enough and offer enough protection. so that when i hit it with the power wash that thin dirt film that sometimes is left on the paint, would no longer be their. will 426 actually get it that clean

Yes I have to admit I have no USA winter experience at all. Want to see the US one day

Do a month long tour with stops at all my favourite detailing suppliers.

So what's the answer for USA winters then. Gee if the foam gun and blotting wash don't work, then I'd hate to live over there.
