Maintaining a Cloth Interior

I am picking up my first brand new car today (Red 2008 GTI) and it has the plaid cloth interior. I learned all of the detailing stuff I know (little compared to the folks here) while maintaining my leather interior. But how do I keep a cloth interior looking new?

ALso, what is the best thing to apply to the dash to keep it looking new? I usually use Lexol vinyl protectent.

Multiple thin coats of ScotchGuard will help keep stuff from setting in to fabric. Also, frequent reapplications of it help as I've found it loses it's protection fairly quickly. Also try to get to stains as quickly as possible.

For those few cloth interiors I've cleaned I find my extractor very effective.

I personally like 303 Aerospace Protectant for the dash and plastic or vinyl interior trim.

+1

Puckman has good advice for you!

Remember to open your windows after spraying the Scotch Guard. The smell is horrendous.

Most cloth seats will look good with very low maintenance. I just scrub them with some APC and extract once or twice a year and protect with scotchguard. Stays looking like new, for many years.

thanks for the tips.

I hate seatcovers. They look cheap in general and there is no point in having nice seats under seat covers.
