Maguires Engine Kote and wheel wells

I've read several recommendations about using Engine Kote in wheel wells.

However, I was on the phone with CMA yesterday and they did not recommend using Engine Kote in this fashion.

I was curious, so I called Maguires. They also did not recommend using Engine Kote in the wheel wells. The representative stated that Engine Kote was designed to work in a warm/hot environment and it may not adhere and flake off in a wheel well.

Comments?

Thanks!

mgk65- Welcome to Autopia! While *I* prefer Griot's Undercarriage Spray for wheelwells, plenty of people use Engine Kote and find it works just fine.

When speaking with vendors (and manufacturers' reps, too) you gotta factor in the "official company line" about outside-the-box uses for products.

Be careful that you DON'T get the EK on places you don't want it. Far from "flaking off", it'll stick like glue and can make a mess of things. *I* wouldn't spray it, but rather apply it with a foam painter's brush or something similar.

I use it on engine bays and wheel wells of my vehicles and think it to be an excellent product for both. In prepping for spring, I cleaned and tuned up the mower and pressure washer, after all said and done, I sprayed them both down with engine kote, both the plastic and metal, both now look as though they did out of the package. I've used the stuff on the plastic chutes and cowlings on my snowblower as well. One has to think that it can't stop with just the car or truck, anything with an engine needs detailing in my opinion.
