M86 vs PO203

thats exactly what I was thinking, but then again Ive never used PO203 so i cant say from personal experience. I just dont think a medium grade cut polish such as PO203 can finish as clean as 106 FF or 106FA to make it a one stepper, but thats just my two cents.

It will maybee not finishes out as good as a finer grade polish, but it will cut better and IMO give a better result. IE less scratches who makes the paint look dull and flat. I did a pearl white Lexus IS250 this weekend and used Scholl Concepts - S17 wich is something similar to SIP, I used a rotary and a finishing pad. They paint got a very nice shine and depth. Did try to use finishing polish and my eyes couldn´t tell if I got any more gloss.

EDIT

What about hologram's and/or buffer trails?

Holograms and/or buffer trails

It was a long time ago I got buffer trails, and it was with a 4 ply twisted wool pad and a compound. These polishes will finish out very good. I have some pictures but it was without proper lightning(my halogen died).

Give it a try.

I ask because SIP is a more aggressive polish than 106 and the only way I am finishing down hologram-free is with a finishing pad and 106; however, I could see SIP working to remove a good deal of light scratches and swirls like you stated, and giving good gloss since a finishing pad has no mechanical action. It would just just be SIP doing the work. As for the buffer trails, agreed. So, thanks for the advice and confirmation, Porta!:2thumbs:

You can get it a Detailed Image or Autogeek

Detailed Image has flat rate shipping up to $150 and anything over $150 is free. I just got a shipment and it was quick.

This is the car I was talking about, I know that the lights is not the best, but I can guarantee that it was no swirls/hazing whatsoever on that paint. Anyway, here are the pictures. IMO pretty glossy and this was after a 1 step polish with a finishing pad.

WOW Porta, that looks amazing! It looks like a multi-stage job. Can't wait to try it out this weekend now that the weather has cleared up. Thanks for the pics

Thanks. Me and the customer was very satisfied with the result. I like to use a finishing pad with a polish - then will the polish to all the cutting since the pad is a non abrasive(or at least very little).

But you can use almost all products with a finishing pad, a very famous detailer in Sweden only uses Meguiars 85 for all the steps - he says it will finishes out better then all their other polishes...

That looks excellent! Did you say that you didn't use PO203?

Thanks. No I used Scholl Concepts S17, wich is a multi task polish - just like SIP.

I have never used Powerfinish, but I am waiting for a couple of new polishes from Menzerna, and PO203S is one of them.

Isn´t Powerfinish avaible in OZ?
