M21 VS Poly-seal

top poli-seal with another sealant, why not a carnauba scott? or is it either or/doesnt matter?

I have a few cars with Poli-seal and an Acrylic Jett topper, plus a couple with a 50/50 mix of OCW and Carnauba Jett.

jeeze!! i can be slow sometimes...lol.

I think the lightbulb just went off...

So as long as a car has no major swirls etc, you can use Poly Seal and ONLY Poly Seal.... Is that correct? Therefore, on a newer car which has been somewhat cared for, a PC random orbit and some poly seal will do everthing needed for a great final look?

Another thing i don't understand is why people use so many different "last steps". If poly seal (or m21) is such a great product, why would one need to put something on top of it? Isn't there a prodcut that you can just put on and have great results with, without having to do it TWICE? Sorry for my newbness, just trying to grasp this!

Scottwax- Is the 83 the best choice for a corrector before the polyseal? Or is there a better product you recomend? Off what your saying, i would only need

83-heavy swirls etc

polyseal- fine polish/final protection

m21- why if polyseal is great?

It seems like i'm just replacing the m80 with polyseal, but the steps stay the same...right?

Most of the sealants you are talking about will look great by themselves and don't "need" a topper. The problem comes with the fact that great isn't good enough for most autopians (myself included). I only top to get the looks exactly where I want. I think since poli-seal is a newer product their is little real world info on it's durability. I have a sample that came with my a ONR and am waiting until the spring to try it out. Winter is too harsh on my car to personally "test" a new sealant.

It seems like from most of the responses in this thread that Poly-Seal, instead of being an all-in-one correction, cleaner, and sealant, is more just an additional step.

Would it be safe to compare Poli-Seal to AIO? If so, Pre-VOC or Post-VOC AIO?

Thanks.

If you are looking for all-in-one product I don't know whether Poly Seal will do what you are looking for as I have never checked it out but while you are checking it out you might want to consider Klasse All-In-One too. I have absolute zero personal experience with it but have heard nice things about it.

Many people put just sealant and are done with it. I don't know all reasons why one would want to top sealant with wax. I assume one of them might have to do with increased protection, and one I know for sure is that people use it in attempt to achieve that look they want.

Are your swirls that heavy to require #83? Without seeing pics of your swirls tough to say but if they are not and that was my car I would start with something less aggressive first. As I am a newb #80 would be my first bet and only after I see results.

sorry to hi-jack the thread, but I want to know if Poli-Seal needs any cure time? Can I use OCW or AW right after Poli-Seal?

Here is my suggestion to you: Go to Kragen's, grab a bottle of Swirl Remover 2.0 (M09), and try it.

It is my understanding that is least aggressive product in Meguiar's lineup, less aggressive than 80 and 83 are (especially 83). They describe it as "... deep gloss cleaner/polish. It removes fine scratches and swirl marks, while providing a dark, dramatic shine."

That will tell you do you need anything more aggressive. And if it takes care of you then follow it up with #21 and you are done, you can take time to explore your other options.

Of the products you mentioned, #83 will correct the most and as long as you work it properly, any very minor hazing (if any) will easily be removed using Poli-Seal and a polishing pad. Optimum Compound is comparible to #83 and for most people, easier to work with (no dusting).

You don't *need* to put anything over Poli-seal but with the products you listed #21 would go after it assuming you want to use all or most of the products you have on hand.

No cure time that I have heard about. The protection it leaves behind is a polymer/carnauba blend and I have had no problems topping it with carnaubas, OCW or Werkstatt's Acrylic Jett.

If left untopped would the durability of Opti-Seal be about on par with untopped Klasse AIO? (a week or two at best)

Has anyone mixed Poli Seal wtih Optimum Polish. I remember reading about another member doing this. Wouldn't this compramise the sealant in it? Any thoughts?

Justin did that, he did 75% poli seal and 25% OP. According to him so far, durability is at least a couple weeks.

I would go with M21...You cant go wrong with M21, it is just an absolute joy to use and looks great - - Some have had issues with durability but I have found it to be superb! :nixweiss:rules:

great... well, one more question!!!

Is there a place on this site where i can sell or trade extra products?

I just bought 64 oz of the M21 and would't mind trading a small amount for some polyseal, or even selling it by 10 oz so others could try it.

I also bought the edge 2000 kit.. I know i'll need to keep the orange light cutting pad, as well as the polishing and finishing pad.. The other two stronger cutting pads will proabably never be used by me though....right?

Great! Thanks!

So is it safe to say i can ditch the 2 Edge 2000 cutting pads? Keep the polishing, finishing, and light cutting, and ditch the two aggressive ones.
