M21/NXT Real Barrier !

I have noticed that both M21 and NXT when just applied doesn't look like it offers much protection, but wait a day when it cures and then I can see an thick polymer coating covering the paint, this is especially noticable when you have a paint chip under to differentiate the contrast, you can really see how thick the sealant is as a sacarficial barrier. I'am convince that both M21 and NXT is a durable as Zaino or AIO and that beading is not a good indicator on polymer sealants.

my nxt is done beading in a month and looks like crap, zaino goes for ~6-9 months and still beads strong and looks good. and that is with no coats added after original application. I love the look of nxt don't get me wrong, but I don't like having to add coats all the time just to "maintain" and get no additional benefit

Which Zaino product lasts 6-9 months?

Beading is not a good indication that there is no protection or barrier, most polymer sealants today don't even bead at all, but if water sheets then there is still a barrier at play. Depending on the molecular structure of the polymer, some will not bead and some do. I have noticed that the barrier from both NXT and M21 to be on for more than 6 months through winter and spring even if it doesn't bead like a carnuaba that has an oil based emulsion.

I've read that some resin based products are soft and don't bead water well and that some manufacturers add ingredients to increase beading.

Single layer of the paste gives me 3-4 months of great appearance, decent slickness and beading in the rain and sheeting when washing conventionally.

Don't know why some people don't seem to get good durability from it. :nixweiss

maintained with z6 only on occasion.

I could get origional turtle wax to last for 6-9 months if I maintained it with z6 when it started to fade...

You're comparing maintained zaino to unmaintained NXT. That's fair.

Add me to the group who sees the thickness of NXT, and gets great durability. Especially the paste. It's awesome.

In this pic, you can really 'see' the polymer, it's like the shine is popping from *above* the paint...

When you say "no coats added" do you mean no Z6, no Z8 and no Z7 washes? Those all contain additional Zaino polish and do replenish the finish.

Don't get me wrong, I use Zaino and and think it is an awesome product but without using those products as a "system" I have never gotten the 6-8 months most claim.

maybe your environment is different from mine? No coats added means no coats added, it's simple. Z6 contains no sealant. Oh and forgot to mention, I do/did use the nxt spray booster stuff. Looked great, but that's it.

see my above post. also, i don't think you can "see" the polymer, that's just in your mind and your own perception.... it's open to interpretation

i see gloss enhancer, nothing about adding sealant. z8 is another story

I am not going to argue with you, you are obviously in denial :chuckle:

Maybe this quote from www.zainostore.com will make it more obvious...

no denial here, I just disagree with you. who cares, it's just detailing products. IN MY experience, nxt is a very poor performing product in the durability sector. I still like it, I like it's look and slight cleaning and filling capabilities.

Let's put it this way, with nxt and the spray wax booster, it still wouldn't give me the results I desire. I've been there, done both.

Just curious, what was your prep? That is some serious wet, I have original fromula NXT from 2+ years ago, and I am also dissapointed with durability. It looks great initially, but after a wash or two, it, just does not have the same look. I measure durability by how the finish looks, I could care less about beading as long as it looks great.

My understanding is that NXT was tweaked for VOC compliance which improved durability. The paste has always been VOC compliant and that is the version I use. Sets up more quickly for removal, seems more durable.
