hey guys been using some menzerna final finish but on some of the single stage paints ive delt with it wont come off well at all. I was working on a 928 the other day with some nasty single and two panels of fresh 2 stage paint. and the removal of the final product took 4 times as long on the older single. the 105 i used just before wiped off just fine.

Will the 205 do it for me on the single? seems ill be doing several in the near future. if not any suggestions

To be honest, Meguiars 80 series products work a lot better on single stage paints. #83 and #80 are what I used on the last Guard's Red 928 I did.

hey thanks scott ill try them out. were those cars origanally single? the one i was working on had three diff paints on it so i didnt know if any was org.

If you are getting paint transfer, the paint is probably original. The last one I did had one panel repainted in base coat/clear coat so no paint transfer on that panel.

What's the best source to find if a paint is a single stage or base/clear coat?

Besides testing for pigment transfer, some makes/models are pretty well known with regard to what they came with from the factory. But of course, vehicles get repainted, sometimes with [who-knows-what].....

Early nonmetallic 928/944 cars were ss until at least the late '80s.

On the plus side, the paint seems reasonably thick and once you polish it out, the paint looks amazing. :)

Yeah...lest anyone misconstrue what I posted, I'm a *HUGE* fan of high-quality single stage. On a lot of cars I *really* prefer it over b/c.

Is that the order in which you use the Megs 80 series, #83 followed by #80?? I have a SS red Miata and really want to make it pop this summer!

Thanks for the help.
