M#105 and DA test

well, did a little test with some megs #105 and the UDM today. I was pretty skeptical, but I have to say, it worked fairly well. Not as well as with the rotary, but maybe 75% as well with one pass, and probably 80-85% as well with a second pass. Took out everything except for the deepest swirls(on speed 6). I'm sure metal will post some pics later on. Just thought I'd share. Oh, and we compared it to a 2stage XMT polish, and it was roughly the same, after the 2nd pass with 105, but much faster.

edit: The paint was probably a medium/medium-light hardness

Good to know. I'm gonna have to pick up a small bottle of this stuff for when I need that extra cut with the PC. What pads did you use it with?

How was the hazing? I used 3m 3000RC with the PC and it definitely hazes. It does finish off pretty nice by rotary though.

LC-ccs Orange and I also tried it with a WG orange light-cut. Worked a little better on the LC. I'm definately going to pick up a small bottle. It gums rediculously fast, but if i did small sections quickly, it worked well. Have to experiment more when I have my own, and I'm not stealing metal's lol

edit: didn't really notice any hazing. The colour is a flakey metalic charcoal/grey, but if there was anything, I didn't notice it

I wonder if you could also mix a little M80 with 105 to prevent gumming and reduce the cut to a little less harsh with the DA. I'll try this when I get a bottle of the 105
