Luxurious and Breathtaking 39 Cabriolet

Here is another "Concours Detail" project that I recently completed on this one of a kind, very luxurious and breathtaking 39 Delage D80-120 Chapron Cabriolet.

Some history of the Delage......

This vehicle was bodied by Master coachbuilder Henry Chapron and fitted to one of the last chassis built before WW2 ended production. The chasis was built in 1939 but was hidden in Paris thru the ensuing conflict. In 1946 it was finally fitted with the body it deserved, one with long flowing lines and subtle curves. The completed car was breathtaking to behold, a thing of beauty that not only caught the eye but kept it. It was rumored that this special cabriolet was ordered for the 1948 Paris Auto show, but its appearance has yet to be confirmed.

In addition to its fine chassis and beautiful body, the vehicles interior is also of the finest. Authentic wood grain dashboard has a full compliment of instuments dominated by a Jaeger tach and speedo. Gorgeous and supple world class leather for upholstery and mohair carpeting. Beside the steering wheel is the coral shifter. One of the novelties of these gearboxes is the ability to use all four gears in reverse.

This is one of the most incredible vehicles I have ever detailed.....The vehicle had a fine coat of paint overspray everywhere, which we had to hand rub, especially on the hood due to the large amount of louvers......The engine was a work of art, machine turned stainless valve cover that was spectacular.

I hope you enjoy my work and the look of this car when it was finished!

Very very cool car. I love the old 30's super luxo cars the 39 Delage D8-120 is one very beautiful car, I especially love the machine turned valve covers. And it looks amazing after the work you have done on it.

But I have to say i want to see more of the duesenberg in the back!
