Lunch/dinner thread.

I had 2 10 ounce bags of Cadbury chocolate eggs for lunch today! Talk about a :drool::drool::drool::drool:. It cant and don't get much better than that!:passout:

This is what I made for myself tonight. A nice plate of spaghetti and my favorite wine to wash it down with.

Nice AB...no pics of what I made but it was pork carnitas, fried rice with shrimp and a spanish red wine...it was darn good!
 
It is pretty tasty. What you made sure sounds like an interesting pairing, but still sounds great. Who made the wine you had? Wine is becoming a new interest of mine.

A good full body red will stand up well to Mexican, but living in the heart of the Ca wine country I drink wine with about everything...this was the wine, it was on sale at the local store I shop at...15 bucks...that's our Saturday night wine.

It's on the sweeter side, but not overpowering. It starts off very smooth and finishes with a burst of flavor. The pricetag isn't too bad either. I've seen it for $9-$12. It's a twist top, but all of the sommeleirs I've talked to say that it really doesn't matter if it's a cork or a cap these days. Both are quite effective ways to top a bottle. It's usually only the really snooty people that frown upon drinking wine from a bottle topped with a cap. If you really like Spanish reds, you might want to look into a brand called Hard Core. It's a Spanish varietal that is really good, IMO.
 
Thanks will have a look for that one...I'm not much on spanish wines but they had a tasting at the store and that was the reason for buying it
 
Which wine do you like? Personally, I really like Rieslings and Savignon Blancs. There's only a few reds that I like as of now, but I've only been getting into wine for the last four months or so. I'm sure I'll develop my tastes as time goes on.

Most all that start to take interest in wine start with sweeter or whites in general..I've been into wine for 25 plus years, and living in the wine country has only made that habit worse:D

On reds, pinot noir is the varietal that I gravitate to, but I enjoy about any good red...whites its mainly chardonnay, I'm really mainstay on that area, sav blancs are OK but only for summer hot weather for me.

I could go on about this for hours, again living here in the wine country taints you in lots of ways:D
 
Well, it looks like you know quite a bit more than I do. If you're into Pinot Noirs, you might want to try Le Grande(although, you probably already have). What do you think of the Rex Goliath label?

I've not had it or don't recall at this point, much of the case...Rex wines for the money are very consistent for price and quality..I get them here every so often.

There are many good and bad reasons for living this close...but what out weights them all is that I get exposed to some of the best grape juice there is, and at a faction of the cost to most around the world;)
