Luggage/roof rack

I have been getting a lot of SUV's with the black aluminum (whatever those things are made of) roof/luggage racks on top. Most seem to not be in so good of a shape and some are smooth and some are textured. What do you all do with these on a detail job or do you just leave them alone??

Come on now, does no one have these things on the top of vehicles where you live, or is it an option only available in NC?

Help please.........

I use AIO on the roof rails of my S4 Avant. Seems to work well enough. The finish on my rails might be different from what you're speaking of, though. Mine are almost like a brushed finish. Regardless, I figure that if its metal and somewhat smooth, AIO is probably right for the job (and clay, too, if its in that bad a shape). Textured racks potentially present a different issue, as they might be covered in something (plastic) that would give the textured look. If its plastic, 303 Aerospace Protectant.

Hope this helps.

I have been using AIO on all my plastic parts on my baja and Even though i haven't gotten to it My thule box will get some when i take it off for the season
