LSP With Lots Of Fillers

Not being a filler man (until now), I need some suggestions. I'm only going to polish once per year from now on. I get some light marring due to frequent washing with less-than-the-best wash/dry techniques. What LSP will fill my spiderwebs nicely? Longevity and looks do not matter. I'm only interested in hiding ability. Thanks!!

First off, this is my first post here. I would like to say that I'm very impressed with all of the experience and work that can be found in this forum. I'm a college student, and don't get alot of time to detail my truck, but I try to do a very thorough job when I do get time.

When I first bought my truck, I used Mother sealer/glaze, which I'm pretty sure has fas fillers. I have no idea if this is the best product for this purpose, but it left my black chevy looking very good, considering the effort required to apply and work in this product.

After finally acquiring some Meg. #16 a couple weeks ago, I used it again right before applying the #16 to help hide the scratches that I haven't gotten to yet with my recently purchase PC.

It seemed to do a pretty good job at hiding the scratches, so it is one possibility.

Here are two pictures.

please ignore the water spots in the top pic, I had just driven 2 hours back to college that day.

Welcome aboard Matt. :welcome Nice looking truck !

Recently I've become a fan of Pink Wax. Gives a great crystal clear shine. And is easy on - easy off (though the instructions say leave on for 10 - 15 minutes before removing.

However I haven't found any real difference between the two methods of application).

Price is about $15 if I remember correctly.

I'd say that Pink Wax is as glossy looking, if not more so, than Meg's #16 and a lot easier to use. Just my opinion.

Good luck and keep us posted on your detailing experiences.

Thank you very much Dr. Groove, hopefully you guys can help me learn to make it look alot better.

I have spent alot of time reading on meguiarsonline, so those are the only products that I've really seen much of. In fact, today is the first time that I'd heard of the pink wax, when I was reading about the spit shining method.

The above pics were my first experience with the #16; I have bought 3 cans. These should last me quite awhile, and they won't be used everytime. I'm still really open to eperimenting with different products.

I had planned to go the #83, #80, #7, and waxes route on the truck over spring break, but I don't think I'm going to. This means that I will be pushed back to the first of May when I get out of school for summer break. The good part about this is that I have that much more time to read about different products on here!!

It definitely sounds like the pink wax is good option then, esp. using the spit shine method.

As far as the nxt, I had pretty much forgotten that it helps to hide scratches pretty well!! I should probably use it under the #16 next time I wax then.

Well in that case Matt you can't go wrong with #16. It has good durability and if your truck is not garaged then #16 is a good choice.

Like you, I started out using only Meguiar's products. They're good, don't get me wrong, but there are many other brands that are worth trying, some of which are superior to Megs.

After a few years of being addicted to this detailng craze and trying many diff products (probably too many my wife would say) I find that these are my faves :

( I should preface this with the fact that I use a PC and my car is garaged). . . . . . . .

MOTHER'S POWER POLISH. Extremely easy to use and highly effective at quickly removing those anoying fine line scratches. Leaves an extreme deep shine as well. (I've tried Optimum polish, the SSR series by PoorBoys, Pinnacle Swirl Remover, Megs stuff, etc. Mother's is tops IMO).

VANILLA MOOSE by ClearKote. It's a terrific glaze that's the epitome of the phrase "easy on -easy off".

PINK WAX (as mentioned) and PINNACLE SOUVERAN for my red S2000.

QD's -

- Ultra Slick Poly Wipe Spray Detailer by Finish Kare.

- Quick Shine by ClearKote.

- Gloss & Shine by Poorboys

Tire Dressings - believe it or not I like Target's Vroom Tire stuff!

It's inexpensive and gives me the satin look I like.

I guess I'm not as fussy about vinyl and rubber protectants. 303 is definitely tops.

But in the end, use whatever works for you. I look at all the detailing supplies I've bought as a hobby. Hey, it's fun !!!

Keep reading the stuff here on Autopia and elsewhere. It's all very helpful.

Remember to have fun with all this detailing stuff !!!

OTC, I would say Eagle one nanowax is better at filling than NXT.

However, as many have pointed, a glaze is hard to beat for filling power ;)

All the oils/etc. in the #80 and #7 will do a good bit of hiding, and the NXT shouldn't clean them off. Topping all that with the #16 oughta work out well.

Heh heh [insert Accumulator's usual lecture on wash-induced marring and the foamgun here ;) ]

I'd use a glaze, but I'm getting lazy in my old age. I just want to wash and wax, LITERALLY, for an entire year. I'm going to do the full detail in a few weeks, then no more polishing until Spring '07.

I'm also going to start using good wash techniques. Well, as good as I can do without a foam gun. :)

I cut my minor marks, scratches, down considerably after changing the way I wash & dry my car. Slap layers of carnuba on the paint, after the full detail. I use quick on/off carnubas, I wax about every 2 weeks, takes less than a hour after a wash.

I'll top with Natty's Blue as part of the coming detail. If I start developing too many fine scratches over time, I'm going to NXT, or maybe one of the other waxes mentioned in this thread. I've a feeling I'm going to be very experienced with "filler waxes" by this time next year. My paint gets scratched just by looking at it.

Zaino Z5 has almost no filling ability in my experience. Z2 is the only worth while "wax" they sell IMO.

Lol. Yeah when I stepped over into the dark side :grrr of enthusiast/pro detailing, I was surprised to see that there was so much more to the detailing universe than meg's. So much better too! Hehe. I think the only products besides #7, that I use now, are the new line of Gold Class detailing wash brushes and tools. Since they are so cool looking. (good quality too) :2thumbs:

Favorite's: Hi-Temp, Menzerna, Pinnacle, One Grand

Eager to try: Zaino, PB's, P21S, Optimum

On the Backburner: Klasse, ClearKote, Einszett

Biltz Wax! Fills very well, looks great and lasts a LONG time.

With maybe their Omega Glaze underneath, huh? Supposed to be a very good combo.

I guess I never think of Blitz because I've heard so much about it staining trim (never tried it myself though). Back when I first started lurking here, IHG topped with Blitz was all the rage.
