LSP safe bug remover?

Hey everyone,



I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good bug remover that won't kill my lsp? I just haven't used anything for this in ages, and wanted something to speed up the washing process/keep from using more pressure than needed to remove the bugs.
 
I'll be interested to hear if anybody has a BTDT, known-OK answer to this one.



I bought some 1Z Anti-Inzekt (?sp?) but never tried it as I just didn't see how it could be effective without messing up the LSP. I just use Sonus SFX (formerly "green") clay myself.
 
How about 3D Products Bug Remover... Seafoam Bugs B Gone? Surf City is waay overpriced and is not selling at all at Walmart.
 
I am using 1Z anti-insekt in 1/10 and I haven't seen any lsp issues. My lsp is RG55 on top of fk1000p so far. I will see how it does with S100 which I recently used.
 
I've used 303 cleaner which works great and doesn't remove acrylic, but really screws up optiseal. It really depends on your sealant/wax.
 
I spray down the front of the car, which takes 70% of the bugs off if my wax is fresh. Then I'll spray the bugged area down with ONR at QD strength, or with whatever quick detail I have in my hand, wash some other panel while it dwells and come back to the bugged area and do a normal wash over top of the QD. This has worked pretty well for me.
 
Thanks for all the good tips guys! I was looking at the Poor Boys bug squash or whatever it is also. Anyone have some experience with that cut down?
 
Ch96067 & John Kleven- Gee, mabye I'll try that 1Z AI after all...at least on FK1000P. Wonder how it works its magic without killing the LSP :think: :confused:
 
I wouldn't mind re-applying some product after a strong remover, but it sure would be great to keep as much protection on the paint as possible. I don't have have all that extra time to apply a product. I just picked up a cheap "Snap On" (or whoever makes it for them/puts the name on it) to help out with a quick blast to remove most of the bugs. I'd like to have a cam spray one someday, but that'll just have to wait.



On a side note, do you think it's worth investing in a foam cannon for the pressure washer? It looks like a really neat product, but my cars don't get crazy dirty. I figure a good pre-soak would help even more with bug removal.

In my experience it is a good product, but it will not last long. If someone wanted to use it a on mid size car all around as prewash then the whole bottle would go in 1 app. Just focusing on bug splatter prone areas it would give 3-4 uses.



However, what definitely is vfm for me is the concentrate. Not sure if you can get it in the US. This is where I get it from for info.

PB Bug Squash works ok at 3:1.

That's the method I use on bikes with large forward fiberglass areas. Let 'em soften up and then normal cleaning.



I don't know of a bug remover that's stout enough to be effective without compromising LSPs. If you're dealing with an area that's thoroughly pasted and you need something that stout I'd think reapplying an LSP may be unavoidable. Refreshing LSPs on frontal areas, especially if you live in an area that's severely buggy, will make it easier to remove bug guts with traditional wash techniques anyway.



I live in a "buggy" area, but they're Amish. Hopefully I won't have to remove them from the front of my vehicles! :soscared:

I think that something like FK1000p on the car will help protect and make the bugs blast off easy. I have some autoglym hd on the car right now and the bugs just came right off with a quick blast of the pressure washer. I might have to try the Duragloss product and see what happens.

I think you would like this product. As stated mixing ratio is 3:1 and will not harm finish.



I use it all the time on the front of the vehicle and windshield. No dead bug has won out against the stuff yet.
