I'm having a hard time getting my LSP's to not smear when trying to remove them. I've tried many different things, but still get smears. What could I be doing wrong? Too much product? Not allowing to setup long enough? Thanks for any suggestions.

I would suggest using one towel to remove most of the product, and then go back over with a fresh towel and give it a final wipe down. I was too having this problem, but the above method (2 towels) seems to work well.

Here's something to try (and thanks to Patrick at Excel Detail for this one), soak a clean MF towel in the hottest water you can, wring it out and wipe down the surface that seems to be streaked or smeared. Then go over it again with a clean, dry MF towel.

Can you tell us what product you're working with?

Typically, any time I've had streaks, I just wipe the car down with some QD and it has always seemed to work.

When I encounter this problem it's generally a sign of too much product or not enough setup time. Or both, I suppose...weather can certainly play a part.

It could also be caused by polishing oils left on the paint, if you just polished the car prior to using the LSP that is..

If that's the case, you could wash the car after polishing, or give it an IPA wipedown before using the LSP.

it happens w/ some zaino polishes and a lot w/ meg 21 2.0 and w/ all finish polishes. i used the wet towel technique today it worked well. thanks!
