Beemerboy, I'm with you. With now 2, non-divinely installed knees, anything that makes me bend my legs more than about 90 degrees can be uncomfortable. I have a Snap-On rolling seat that goes down to 14 or 15 inches and perhaps as high as 20 inches. I have trouble getting up and down too many times even using something this high. It is very comfortable for me when it's at a higher setting assuming my tools are near by. For me the getting up and down are the problem. The bottom of this stool has a "shelf" that packs pretty much what I need.

I made this to make moving a 600lb snowmobile around in my garage easier after a ride. You ask what does this have to do with detailing? Well last September I was doing my winter prep and was putting in a lot of hours on it, was doing a lot of bending when I remembered that I had this sitting in the corner. It is made from a heavy chunk of plywood, a couple of 2X4's and some heavy duty castors and screwed it together with Sheetrock screws. Due to me being a big guy there is no kneeling on anything. This sure saved on the back. I now have the idea of looking into Cabela's or Pro Bass for a boat seat as I remember they don't cost that much. I was able to reach to the top of the fenders and to the side windows and all the way down to the rockers. I now just need a medium height cart to pull around me for the tools and such.

I'm in the market for either what you have or something similar. Which do you prefer, this unit or the standard 18in rolling stool? thanks

I like it but mainly useful for lower body panels. The stool is more useful and I need to replace mine this year since the wheels are getting tore by the rough concrete.

thanks. Sounds like this does not replace the stool. I'm considering one of the rolling stools and race ramps to allow easy access to lower panels
