Lots of lint after quick detailing -- What am I doing wrong??

Just for anyone who searches and finds this thread later, my linting problem was completely solved by drying my microfibers in the dryer on low heat. At the same time, I also switched from Dodo Juice Red Mist Tropical to Optimum Car Wax as my last step, but I doubt that was a factor.

Ah, glad you got it sorted out!

I guess it makes sense about the machine-drying helping...think of how stuff gets caught in the dryer's lint filter (I've even found some MF lint on mine after doing numerous loads of MFs).

Hmmm, wonder if the switch to OCW might've factored in too  :nixweiss

My towels would lint when they were new and not washed yet. But since I read a recommendation to wash them before the first use to get any manufacturing nasties out of them I no longer have the issue. I dry mine on low heat and have not had any problems.

I live in a condo building with laundry room. I would have to run plain water in washer several times

to get soap residue out of washer. If I wash my new MFs before using and do it by hand, do I need

to use the MF cleaner or can I just use plain water, wring out and dry on hot in dryer?

No response yet. Can anyone lend some feedback please? Thanks!

Sorry, been out of town.

I'd want to use *some* kind of detergent as plain water isn't very good at cleaning stuff despite being the "universal solvent".

The dryer is probably OK, but even I (who don't worry about this) would be a little leery of the "hot" setting.

I never had any problems with lint on my MFs. I use Tide Free and set dryer on lowest setting, can't recall what it is right now, (air dry, low heat...)

Clarify ... these are NEW MFs that I'm going to be using... Not any that are soiled.

Lexi65- IMO even brand new, right from-the-package MFs need to be laundered with detergent. Textile mills aren't exactly the cleanest of places. OK, call me paranoid...but I've known people who've spent time in such places and I'll *never* use/wear/etc. any textile that hasn't been washed. Well, not if I can help it (hey, "life happens" and all that).
