loss of "slickness" using ONR as QD

I too was dissapointed with onr as a QD and also a clay lube, didn't seem to lubricate the way a qd should. On the optimum subject I don't seem to be getting slickness with optiseal either. nowhere near as much as I had with just DG111 with some AW over it. 2 coats of OS on now, It looks get and lossy but its not slick for chit. maybe I applied it too heavily? no streaking though.

OS is not a super slick LSP (OCW sure is though) but it looks great, beads nicely and protects well. No streaks = proper application. It does get slicker after a day or two but it will never be super slick like OID or OCW.

Agree.

FordFan, ONR is not targeted for lubrication, and won't feel like that either. ONR encapsulates the particles (to a certain limit of course), and establishes a film on the surface.

if you want slick with Optimum, then use OS as a base and top with use OID or OCW after washing. Both are extremely slick and leave a cracking finish :)

A little bit off topic, but I've seen a video of Anthony O. applying OCW during an ONR wash while the vehicle was still wet and then drying it. Used in that way it would be like a QD on steroids.

Do you have a link to that video?

Another question and slight hijack -

I've been thinking of using ONR as a QD not so much for slickness or shine but for spot cleaning. Why would I need to up the dilution ratio from the wash to the QD strength if I saturated the area well? Is there a benefit except for increased lubricity?

Adding more ONR doesn't necessarily mean increased lubricity.

It is perfect for spot cleaning. The QD dilution puts down more actives to the surface, thereby enhancing protection, not just cleaning the surface.

With washing using ONR, you are using a wash medium soaked in ONR to remove dirt and a dry towel to dry the surface. When QDing, you are spraying the solution on the surface and drying with a dry towel (which would provide a greater chance of marring the paint). My thought is if the dirt is light enough to QD, you might as well just ONR the whole thing (which would be considerably quicker than a regular full ONR wash). Good luck!
