looking to buy rotary polisher

HI all,

I'm looking at a generic brand polisher made my 'Power Fist' by Princess Auto - may only be available here in Canda. It's a 7" variable speed (1000-3000rpm) with dial speed control and weighs 9.8lbs. It's on sale for $64.99 CA - i'm thinking it's a great 'bang for the buck' polisher.

I know there are a lot of Porter Cable fans here, but i'm on a budget unfortunately.

What do you guys think?

thanks

don't waste your money, spend a little more and get a quality rotary. makita, dewalt, hitachi, metabo, etc..

Never heard of it, sorry. I saw a rotary in the automotive section at Canadian tire the other day. I think it was about $99.00 cad.

makita, dewalt, hitachi, metabo are all great choices, try and save your money and buy a quality rotary...

I was thinking about this PA has some pretty god stuff for cheap. I have heard it is heavy, but powerful.

EDIT: Wow it is the one of the heaviest rotaries out there!

They also have pretty good customer service. I think Scoobasteve has one

i say wait and save your money.....

if you the type that i want it now well i heard Vector polisher are good as far as reliabilty its hard to say since those who have them havent had them that long or so forth...

but another alternative is go ebay and take your time for a good reliable brand in a clean but used condition like a makita or dewalt or hitachi...

or go for the pc rotary.....

gl

I am on the hunt for a rotary as well. Looking at the PC 7428 I believe it is or the Makita 9227? Ready to buy one of them, which is recommended? Already got the 7424 but need more grunt in some situations.

Makita goes as low as 600rpm, and only weighs 6.6lbs

I love mine :bestwish

6.6 lbs. thats insane. didnt know it was that light. i think i might hook myself up to one later on. this vector is pretty heavy.

The Metabo is about a pound lighter (IIRC) and significantly smaller too.

The Makita is a great machine, though. I have one and love it!

I just bought this unit yesterday.

I haven't had the chance to try it yet, but it looks solid. Yes I know, its a China cheap tool... but I can replace this one 4 times before I spend as much as some of these higher end units. And for a weekend warrior like myself, it will probably last a long time.

10 amp motor an variable speed from 200 - 3377 rpm. Weighs 6.6 lbs. I walked out the door with it for $20.99 (on sale marked down to $29.99 from $49.99 and found a 30% off coupon on Slickdeals.net). How bad can it be for 20 bucks!

For $20 it's hard to go too wrong. It spins a pad like all the rotaries, and if you're aware of the limitations (it can bog down and no electronic speed control) you can do some decent work with it. Not a rotary for everyday use, but for a weekend warrior's occasional use it is a cheap way to get started.

You want to buy a better Backing Plate for that unit, the one it comes with is pretty crappy.
