Looking at the IBM Thinkpads, they seem pricey, out of my price range at least. Im thinking of customizing a Sony Vaio, my dad currently has one and he is an electronics expert!

I have a Sony Vaio - and if Apple is out of the picture then Vaio is the next best thing, have never had a problem with mine and it's still running just like the first day I purchased it...now has almost 20 gb filled

Yea ever since my dad had an apple computer back in the early 90's or whenever they came out he vowed he would never waste money on another apple computer. I think he would disown me if I bought one! haha

Apple has come a long way since they were first introduced...They are amazing computers for the money - If you have an apple store near by go and play around on one of the new MacBooks...they are great if you are into using it for web design/photoshop/video editing etc...Very easy to organize your documents and search for them as well

Isn't Apple non-compatible with Windows (XP, etc.) There are programs I need from windows for my class projects that are necessary like Excel, powerpoint, Access, etc...
