I am looking at a 4 hp peak craftsman wet\dry vac... do you think that that would be worth it for only doing weekend jobs?? Also would it be enough power to extract heavy stains out of carpet after scrubbing or should I just thte extra mile and get a 6hp???? What does UPP stand for? obviously it is a wax b/c everyone raves about. Where can i get it? Any Info is greatly appreciated

UPP= 4 Star Ultimate Paint Protection. Sold by several of the site sponsors.

UPP = Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection. It's a polymer sealer, and I, like many others like it A LOT!

Specialy Motoring is having a 25% off sale this Saturday, and they carry UPP. (see details at the bottom of my post)

On the shop vac.... Sears has a nice wall mountable 5hp wet/dry vac with several attachments and an 18' hose. I belive it's on sale and has free shipping for $69.00. It's easy to unmount and put in the trunk for mobile details.

On Saturday December 4th, I will be offering 25% off almost everything. Kits are the only things not included in this sale. Plus, I’ll have crazy specials listed every few hours. I’ll be up all night Friday making sure that the prices are reflected in your shopping cart when you order online. Or, you can order by phone or email. The sale will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 EST on Saturday.

My Lake Country and Four Star stuff will not be on my site, but will be included in this sale. You just have to call or email me for those products.

Here are the Four Star Ultimate Products I carry. Pricing shown is our regular price.

Thankyou very much for info. it has been great help. i think i am going to go ahead and get the stuff and give it a shot.

One last thing on the sears shop vac. that I recommended. Get the 'auto' hose nossle attachment. It's $5. It makes a world of difference in the suction power, especially if you're planning to extract water from carpets.

UPP is a great product, but it is not a cleaner or polish. Your paint needs to be in good shape to start with if you are to get the benefit of the UPP.
4 Star UPC, Ultimate Paint Cleaner should do a good job of prepping for UPP.

I just bought the ridgid 12 gal 5hp from Home Depot over the weekend. I think they still have it on sale for 29.95. Not bad since it was 69.95. Comes with many attachments and works great.

I picked up one of those last Saturday also, don't know if they're still on sale, but for $30.00 it's a great vac. Here are some of my thoughts after using it.
- Great suction.
- I hosed my floor mats off after scrubbing with my Woolite mix and this guy did a great job extracting the water.
- It is a bit larger than I thought, maybe too large to lug in your trunk, but great for home/shop/garage use.
- About the only drawback I can think of is no option for a bag. IMO this makes it more difficult to switch from wet to dry and vice versa. Since I plan to use my original shop vac with optional bag for dry pick-up and this one for wet it's no big deal, but I thought I should mention it.

Here is a link if anyone wants to see it:

The sheer size of anything larger than 4 gallons made me buy the Pro4.
It has enough suction to extract well (I've already experimented) but won't take up any more room in the trunk than the containers I use to hold my MF's and polishes.
It just wasn't worth going to 12 or 16gal to get 1 more hp.
My $.02 (to each his own)
Cheers!

Sounds like you got a great deal. Unfortunately it is $69.95 at our Home Depot.
Probably still not a bad price, but for $69.95, I think I would go for the 5 HP, 4 gallon model simply because of convenience of size. Hey, maybe that one will go on sale.

Charles:)
