I have just purchased a F355 and an interested in stocking building a detailing shelf.

Here are my suggestions I got from all your comments on the forum. Any feedback would be appreciated. Needless to say, I am looking for the deepest, wettest finish possible.

Clay if needed (suggest brand)

Wash with Meguiars Body Shop Pro

Pinnacle Souveran (Paste)

followed by Pinnacle Souveran (liquid)

Pls recommend a cleaner/mister for in between washes

P21s (wheel cleaner)

Comments appreciated but if you think I should use another product please let me know why.

Thanks

Frank

Clay if needed (Clay Magic)

Wash with Meguiars Body Shop Pro

Pinnacle Souveran (Paste)

followed by Pinnacle Souveran (liquid) I'm not sure I understand why you are following up Souveran with Liquid Souveran. The paste Souveran is superior.

Pls recommend a cleaner/mister for in between washes

P21s (wheel cleaner)

Used 1996

Color: Red with Tan interior

Mileage: 18,000

My understanding from the website was by adding the liquid I could enhance and deepen the shine.

F355 ( any year):bow :bow :bow

I will assume nothing. Will this car be a "garage queen" or ("please say no") a daily driver? Why? Protection needs.:xyxthumbs

If a "Garage Queen" your plan sounds good except no need for liquid Souveran.

You also need a plan to protect and preserve that interior - leather conditioner and cleaner ( Zymol,303, meg wipes, Zaino Z9)

Welcome to Autopia and you might consider checking out the David B's detailing E-book.

:wavey

This car will be no garage queen...except for winter. I traded my Porsche for this baby, so you bet I will drive it.

For the interior I have leatherique products a I have read rave reviews about this product.

You said my plan sounds good for a garaged car. Although it will be garaged (in the evening). I plan on driving whenever I get a chance.

Is it true, that by a second layer on top of the Souveren the finish becomes richer?

Also what should I use in between washes to get of finger prints?

Thanks

A good quick detailer is the Crystal Mist from Pinnacle. If you are going to be using Souveran anyway, then that would be a good compliment to the wax. It will get rid of the finger prints. A good rotweiler tied up near your car is a good way of preventing the fingerprints as well. ;)

Sweet car. And nice enough paint that a real effort in detailing will pay off with a spectacular looking car.

If you haven't done so I highly recommend purchaing the Autopia Guide to Detailing. It will give you not only product suggestions but detailing tips and tricks that you will need to learn in ordetr to maker the car reallyt look awesome.

As for products, asemble a list like this:

Shampoo - Lots of good choices here. P21S is very mild but you can use most any good shampoo.

Polishes - You'll need a SMR from someone like 3M or Meguiar's. A light polish from P21S is also excellent to have on hand. Also good to have something a bit more aggressive for those times when you need it; FI2, DACP, or similar.

Wax - If you want Pinnacle, Souveran is the only way to fly. Forget their liquid product as it's not up to that level. Also consider P21S wax as it's very similar in performance to Souveran and lots cheaper.

Sealant - If you want to go the sealant route instead of wax the tow that get the most props here are Zaino and Klasse. Both have lots of fans. The thing with Zaino however is that it will need a total commitment to the product line for best results. So go Zaino or skip it altogether.

QD - You'll need a good QD for in between wax jobs and to remove fingerprints and light dust. Meguiar's, Mothers, Eagle One, Pinnacle, Zaino and others make great QD's. Pick one.

Tools - Lots of tools I can recommend but invest in at least 12 top quality microfiber towels. Get at least two large waffle weave MF's for the post-wash drying. The rest are for polishing or QDing.

This should get you started on the right foot. The Guide To Detailing will help you with how to do the job correctly. Specific questions can be answered by your friendly Autopians.

Good luck and post some pics when you get a chance.

Now it is getting a bit confusing....

What is the difference between wax and sealant?

Otherwise, here is the list. Just trying to decide on the polish. How many coats should I do to produce a rich, wet coat?

ClayMagic Bar

Wash: Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo

Polish: Meguiar's or P21s (show care glaze or new car which ones?)

Wax: Pinnacle Souveran

QD: Pinnacle Crystal Mist

Thanks

I see we haven't downloaded the Autopia guide to detailing, found at www.autopia-carcare.com . If we had we would have read on Page 4 of the Introduction the definitions of "wax" and "sealant". Come on, the first 8 chapters are free......:xyxthumbs

Coats of polish? Polish is used to remove and fill scratches and swirls so the trick is to work the product fully and not use too much.

ClayMagic Bar

Wash: Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo

Polish: Meguiar's or P21s (show care glaze or new car which ones?)

Wax: Pinnacle Souveran

QD: Pinnacle Crystal Mist

Buy Meguiar's #9 Swirl Mark Remover for starters. No need to buy a bunch of products you may not use. If the paint is in good condition now the #9 should make it look great. Follow up with the Souveran.

Sounds pretty good. I would probably stick Klasse in your list after the polish, and then continue with the pinnacle stuff. Of course your best purchase would be the e-book:D
