Looking for new Sealant

I've been using Z2 for about a year. I love the look, but the entire process just takes too long. Having to add ZFX to an application is just BS.

I would like to try something else but having not tried a lot of products, I would like somone who has used Zaino and compared it to give me some input.

Ive used a bunch of synthetic waxes. Most that I have tried didnt last any longer than most carnaubas. The only ones that have really held up for me are Klasse and Zaino.

I'm with bone on this one. I think you shouldn't look at it like you have to add ZFX, it is more like you get to add ZFX. No other product has an instant cure. A third product I would consider is Wolfgang or also NXT, but Z and K first choices.

My first sealant was Zaino back in 2001. Since joining Autopia, I have tried all the new kids on the block except FMJ, old reliables Klasse and also all the highly praise carnuabas / blends / syn waxes that were reasonably prices (<$100). This was fun and all look good but are now collecting dust, sold or traded on abay or I use on friends vehicles that will not really care if the protectant last 3 weeks or 4 months.

Nevertheless, after all these trials to convince myself what was best for me, Zaino is on all my driven vehicles.

Check the trading post thread and start your own testing for cheap. There are a lot of fine products out there that may meet your need for a easier process. There is no other product out there that allows multiple layering in one day (ZFX).

Many detailers do not need this high-tech product (ZFX), need to do multiple layers, instant curing when applying a layer and not able to store vehicle indoors for the first 24hrs to prevent sealant from moisture exposure during the unaccelerated curing process, or find mixing ZFX an inconvenience.

I'm not knocking Zaino by any means but I'd suggest trying Finish Kare- they claim full line compatiblity- meaning that Pink Wax can be layered on top of 218 or 2180 and then another coat of 2180 can be put over Pink Wax. they MIGHT be the only line to have a system that allows their sealant to be placed over top of their carnauba blend without having to strip it down.

I can back that up....no harmful affects from topping the wax

with the sealant.

However, I should add that 218 and 2180 to a lesser extent

can mute the deep look of Pink Wax when applied on

top of it. 218 and 2180 impart a brighter, and more reflective

type of finish. I would say that it is better to simply

apply the sealants first, then either Pink Wax, or FK1's

Hy Temp paste wax. Hy Temp unlke Pink Wax will add

more reflectivity as well as depth. For a liquid, there's also

FK1 #216 (similar to Pink Wax).

You have a lot of options.

Care to give us the color of your car and things that are important to you (i.e. ease of use, price, availability, durability, etc.)? Maybe we can lead you to a sealant that will best fit your needs.

Zaino, Klasse Wolfgang, EX-P, There are many sealants to try. Many options in doing so. The nice thing is, that with polymers, you can sometimes successfully top one with another due to the non-cleaning aspect of most polymer products. With "cleaning "one step" polymers, the cured sealant is mainly not removed by the additional product (NXT and a few others are in this category). In addition, if your present detail has no problems you need to correct, by not stripping the pevious detail means you have in effect "saved" your previous work. You have options galore !

You also might want to consider Collinite 845 Insulator Wax. True, it isn't a sealant but many Autopians are reporting sealant-like durability.

I am hooked on Collinite, but I have also tried Detail Plus's Diamond Plus Sealant and really like it. The only down side is you have to buy a gallon at a time!

You can't go wrong with any of the products mentioned on this thread. IMO, Zaino & Klasse top the list. (It often amazes me how adding a few drops of ZFX & shaking a bottle for 2 minutes is discouraging to people.) I'd also like to add the Chemical Guy's Extreme Top Coat Sealant w/ 3X Carnauba to this list. It's very Poorboy's EX like, sun friendly & easy to use. The downside to the Sealant w/Nuba is that it's only available by the gallon. But look at it this way........At $47.00 a gallon, it gives you good value in return for your dollar.

Because, well, you don't have to do that with any other product. The simple fact that I HAVE to buy Z1 or ZFX just to use Z2 discourages me right there.

No doubt that Ziano and Klasse are the longest lasting, I tend towards Klasse as its not as finiky and works better for me. The thing is for me these two product just don't satisfy me as far as looks like a good carnuba or one of the carnuba like selants. IMO if Ziano is what you like and want it to last then try Klasse. The others like WG, UPP looks better but only last 2-3 months. It don't matter to me since I'm usually ready to repolish after 2-3 months.
