Looking for Iron remover recommendation

I have used Iron X then moved to Poorboys Iron remover and both were pretty good. The Poorboys was soapy and a bear to rinse but worked.

I’m out and looking around these got expensive.

I see the Adams iron remover is like 1/2 the price of the ones I have previously used.

Anyone have experience using the Adams product ? I get that performance matters so I’m asking for feedback.

Any other suggestions. ?

I`ve used and use Adam`s and McKee`s37.

Adam`s smells good for an iron remover, however I will say that it is not `as powerful/strong` as the others. I need to increase my dwell time with it.

My go to is the McKee`s37. Great performance.

Mckee’s is good stuff. Currently using black fire and has been my favorite so far. Gel consistency clings well and they recommend spraying on dry dirty car so saves me a step of washing before, then iron then wash again.

Thanks Scott - would you say McKees is equal in performance to an iron x product ?

That’s interesting. I always wash the car well. Spray the iron remover, let dwell, rinse well and re wash. I’m sure it a time saver just wonder is iron removal is equal since it’s on dirt film not paint. What are you seeing ?

Never had a problem rinsing off, as I too wash after using .... I heard there is a sale going on at one of our distributors for a short time :o

I had Sonax fallout remover, which was great. When it ran out I just looked for the cheapest/best deal. Bought Bilt Hamber this time.

I decided to go with a 16oz bottle of nanoskin to check it out first. most of the reviews were good performance but bad smell which I already know about. The nanoskin was 44.99 delivered a gallon and that`s about 1/2 the price of everything else I have used in the past. We shall see I will learn something either way.

yes, the raw materials have gone crazy ... most of the good raw materials for Iron Removers are coming from Germany ..

The nano skin won’t be here until next Wednesday. So I picked up the Meguiar’s liquid clay iron remover. 25 bucks less 10% for 32oz.
Hope to try it tomorrow AM. Will report back. I’m sure I’m and over user but I usually use 10-16 oz per car. I think with a better trigger that mists better I might use less.

Will report back and thanks for the advice.

If the nano skin is not as good as iron X I’ll try Mckees next.

IMO Valugard should`ve kept on selling online directly. I bet the pro and enthusiast market might be bigger than they think.

The thing about the acid products, whether it be for wheels or paint decon, is that it doesn`t do the "bleeding" which is of course an important consumer consideration, and maybe even as an indicator in professional use. I don`t think I gave much thought back in the acid decon days as to whether a single treatment was removing all the contaminants. I still have some of the VG Chrome Wheel Cleaner and the "B".

Meg`s D2002-RTU Iron Removing Spray Clay is what I bought because:
1) It was available over-the-counter (at O`reilly`s Auto Parts store)
2) It was cheap and I did not want to pay for a gallon
3) I know Meg`s products work
I used it on a White Chevy Traverse that was a wheelchair conversion vehicle. Just follow the directions, and yes, I did bleed here-and-there.
I ended up claying the whole vehicle anyway because of some HORRIBLE (AKA, a lot of!) black painted trim overspray from the conversion process.
JSFM35X, I would be interested in your thoughts and experience when you use this iron remover on a vehicle and how it compares to the other iron removers you may use.

I do have some safety concerns about using an iron remover:
1) Do you need to wear an N95 mask to avoid breathing in the mist?
2) Does it harm newer (AKA, not fully cured) concrete driveways outdoors or garage floor if indoors)?
3) I assume most of you do this outside, and NOT on a windy day (overspray threatening bushes or flower landscaping)
4) Can you use an iron remover as a "lite" acid wheel cleaner? (rim really, NOT the tire AND actually iron rotor dust, NOT brake dust)
